Woodson All Night Grad Party
Message from Mr. Greata
It is graduation week, and a wave of excitement is building as we count down the days to celebrate our seniors before they walk across the stage. We kicked off the celebrations with an excellent senior awards ceremony last Friday. A huge shout-out goes to Christine Lieb-Mosley and Josh Peters for organizing the event, along with all of our presenters—including our department chairs, teachers, and counselors—who recognized the seniors who have done such outstanding work during their time at Woodson High School.
Today, our seniors successfully rehearsed for graduation before heading out to the senior picnic, where our first raffle winners from the All-Night Grad Party received a $100 gift card and a brand-new TV. If your senior hasn’t signed up for the All-Night Grad Party yet, we highly recommend that they follow this link to register. It is going to be a fantastic time and a wonderful, safe way for them to spend their graduation night.
Looking ahead, I hope all seniors take advantage of the senior grad walks happening tomorrow and Wednesday, as well as the two additional walks scheduled for Friday, June 5—one at Fort Belvoir and the other at Saint Leo’s. Please check out our webpage here to get all the necessary details. As an important reminder, graduation is this Thursday, June 4, at 9:00 AM. There will be no school for students that day so that our community can celebrate this milestone.
The school spirit continues throughout the week with several final activities. On Tuesday night at 7:30 PM, our boys' soccer team will play in the regional semifinals at Robinson. Tuesday evening also features our band concert at 7:00 PM right here at Woodson High School. We hope to see you out supporting these students at some of our very last events of the school year. Looking ahead to the weekend, Woodson is proud to host the FCPS Summer Extravaganza this Saturday. We hope you can make it out to this wonderful community event, which will feature food, games, and plenty of entertainment from around Fairfax County Public Schools. You can check out the flyer below for more information.
Finally, please join me in giving a massive shout-out to Dr. Amy Galitzer, who was recently nominated as an Outstanding Educator for the 2026 Summer Residential Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology.
Have a great week, Woodson!

Student's Intention For Next School Year
If you know that your child will not be attending Woodson High School for the upcoming school year, please complete the official Student Intention Form as soon as possible.
Providing this information early is essential for our enrollment planning and helps ensure that your student's records are accurately processed for their transfer to a new school. You can download the required form at the following link: https://www.fcps.edu/sites/default/files/media/forms/it110.pdf. Once completed, please submit the form to the Darlene Sheppard, dmsheppard@fcps.edu
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Now Available
Students in grades 9-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, we will share copies with you directly.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to your child's school counselor.
End of Year Final Exam Schedule
As the school year winds down, we want to ensure our students feel prepared and confident heading into their final assessments. To help your family plan ahead and manage those end-of-term study sessions, we have published the complete End-of-Year Final Exam Schedule and Senior Activities Schedule on our website.
New Cellphone Policy Starts July 1
On Thursday, May 7, the Fairfax County School Board approved changes to the FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R). The approved changes include updated guidance for cellphone possession and use, to align the FCPS cellphone policy with Senate Bill 108. This new Virginia law goes into effect on July 1 and states that all schools in the Commonwealth must follow a “bell-to-bell” phone-free policy.
This means that starting July 1, 2026, across all grade levels at FCPS, student cellphones, phone accessories, and all smart devices (including watches that serve a dual purpose, such as smart watches, as well as earbuds, headsets, smart glasses, and other other items connected to the internet) must be off and personally stored (i.e., put away in backpacks) for the duration of the school day — thus, no cellphones from bell to bell.
High school students will no longer be able to use cellphones and personal devices during lunchtime. More details are available on the FCPS Cellphone Policy webpage.
Go Paperless!
Did you know you can view your student’s report card under the Documents tab in ParentVUE? You also have the option to “Go Paperless” for Secondary Report Cards and Elementary Progress Reports by simply checking the box under your account details. This ensures your documents are delivered digitally, saving paper and arriving faster — plus they won’t be mailed to your home.
