Laptop Collection:

Laptop Collection

Parents/Guardians,

In the coming weeks we will begin our Chromebook/laptop collection. Students are required to return devices before the last day of school so they can be refreshed for the 2026-27 school year.

When is the collection?

June 10th and 11th during your student’s P.E. Class.

What is being collected?

● Chromebook/laptop

● Charger (note: the HP 45-Watt charger is the only charger given with Chromebooks/Laptops and is the only charger we can accept)

● MiFi Device (if issued)

What should I do to prepare for collection?

● Wrap up and secure the cord of your charger.

● Remove any personal stickers.

● Wipe down the laptop (inside and outside) using a sanitizing wipe. Please don’t use water on the Chromebook.

● Keep your student ID tag inside the plastic ID holder. This is extremely important to make sure that your device is identified correctly! If the ID card is missing from your laptop, please ensure there is a sticky note on the laptop with your student's first and last name, as well as ID number.

What if the charger has been lost?

You can purchase a replacement charger from MySchoolBucks for $29.00 (In the upper right hand corner go to “SCHOOL STORE” and ensure Irving Middle School is selected, as well as your Irving student). Alternatively, you can make a payment via exact cash or check made payable to Irving Middle School.  If you haven’t returned or replaced missing items before the start of the 2026-27 school year, your student will not be issued a device to use for next school year until balances are taken care of. https://www.fcps.edu/resources/technology/fcpson/student-device-guidelines

What if my child is participating in a FCPS Summer School program?

If your child is attending Summer School or another FCPS summer program, your child will need to bring in their Chromebook and charger to the Irving Tech Office in room 150 for accountability purposes between June 1st and 9th. After June 9 laptops kept for summer programs should not be brought to school. Students will use their laptop for the summer program and return it to Irving no later than the first week of August to be refreshed for the 2026-27 school year. Students who do not return devices before the start of the 2026-27 school year will not be issued a device to use for next school year until returned.
