NOTE: Please see the correct date for the Volunteer Breakfast (June 2) in Upcoming Dates.

Dear Mighty Red Bird Families,

It is hard to believe we are entering the final stretch of the school year! The energy in our Nest remains high as we prepare to cross the finish line together.

Student end-of-year assessment results continue to roll in, offering clear evidence of the tremendous academic growth and hard work they have demonstrated throughout the year. This progress is a reflection of what we can accomplish together. We know growth and achievement happen when school and home walk hand-in-hand, and we are deeply grateful to our families for your encouragement, commitment, and collaboration every step of the way.

With the final countdown officially on, we are focused on finishing the year strong. It is important to note that while summer is just around the corner, valuable learning, final projects, and meaningful closure are still happening in our classrooms every day. Every moment counts, and consistent attendance remains critical right up until the last day. Thank you for helping us maintain this momentum by ensuring your children are here and ready to learn each morning!

Warm Regards,

Mrs. Long, Mrs. Agner, Mrs. Compton

🌟Mrs. Long's Blueprint Byte

Shed

Our new garden shed is officially constructed, thanks to the incredible hard work of one of our Get2Green sponsors, Ms. Cooper, and her family, who built it this past week! This much-needed space will house our gardening supplies, providing essential support to the dedicated Get2Green team, student gardeners, and family volunteers who nurture our grounds.

Volunteer Appreciation! 💐

At Cardinal Forest Elementary, we are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated community of volunteers who constantly go above and beyond for our school. From sorting Tuesday folders and helping teachers with making copies, to sprinkling the lounge with love and treats for our staff and volunteering at our community celebrations, your support makes a world of difference every single day!

To show our gratitude and appreciation for the many ways you support Cardinal Forest ES throughout the school year, we would love to celebrate our volunteers! Volunteers, please join us for a Volunteer Appreciation on Tuesday, June 2 from 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM for light breakfast treats. We hope to see you there!

Finish the School Year With Strong Attendance!

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, Fairfax County Public Schools appreciates your continued partnership in supporting your child’s success. Regular attendance plays an important role in helping students stay engaged in learning, maintain connections with their teachers and peers, and finish the school year strong.

Attending school consistently also helps students build valuable habits such as responsibility, perseverance, and daily routines that support success both in and out of the classroom.

If your child needs to miss school, please remember to report the absence. Full-day absences can be reported in ParentVUE. Families may also report absences by calling the school attendance line or emailing the school-designated attendance address.

If your child is experiencing challenges that are affecting attendance, we are here to help. Please contact your child’s school so staff can partner with you to provide support and resources. Learn more about attendance resources.

Arrival and Dismissal - Be A Good Neighbor!

As a reminder, please help us keep arrival and dismissal times safe and smooth for everyone. We ask families to be good neighbors and mindful of:

  • Not blocking intersections or painted boxes during Kiss & Ride —this impacts visibility and also prohibits access for emergency vehicles.

  • Crossing only in crosswalks and watching carefully for cars.

  • Avoiding parking in residential areas, fire lanes, or private parking spaces.

  • Refraining from making illegal U-turns.

  • Remember, no pets are allowed on school property.
