Principal’s Message

fffffff

Happy Friday Wolverines,

Graduation is 10 calendar days away!!

As we head count down the final days of May and head to June next week I wanted to share some important end of year reminders:

Class of 2026

  • Final Exams will continue for non-SHOUT seniors on June 1 and 2.  June 2nd is the last day of school for the senior class.  Seniors are expected to be in attendance to all classes through June 2 unless they are participating in an approved SHOUT activity.
  • The Class of 2026 Graduation is June 8 at 9:00am at Eagle Bank arena.  There is No School for all students on June 8 as our faculty will be celebrating with the Class of 2026 at Eagle Bank Arena.

Underclass Final Exams/Schedule

  • The last full day of school for students is Wednesday June 10.
  • Final Exams for underclass students will be June 11-June 16.  The complete final exam schedule can be found here.  On these dates we will dismiss each day at 11:30am.  Students will have the option to pick up a grab and go lunch.

Last Day of School

  • Our last day of school is Wednesday June 17.  School will dismiss at 10:10am.  Please note that all students will report to the gym and remain in the gym for the two hours.  Attendance will be taken.  Students will sign in upon entering the main gym.

Attendance

  • If your child is going to be absent any day the remainder of the year please be sure to contact our attendance office via email (WestPotomacHigh.Attendance@fcps.edu).
  • For any absences on the final day of school, please note that due to a high volume of absences, we may not have all excused absences logged before the morning call out.  If you submit an email excusing your child for school on the last day and you receive an attendance phone call, you do not need to submit a second email

Have a great weekend!

Test Prep News!

Summer SAT Test Prep Class Registration Open

There is enough interest to run one summer SAT prep class targeting prep for the August 22 official SAT. This in an in-person class, Gunston Building, Room 190A.

Registration and schedule are available at https://guidewelleducation.onecanoe.com/applerouth/registration/create?event_code=SATBE5A

Most students will show a strong preference for either the SAT or ACT format. This preference usually results in students naturally testing the SAT equivalent of 100 points higher on their preferred test. Sponsored by PTSA, mock tests are offered through Applerouth to help students determine their preferred format and establish baseline test scores – not to mention the benefits of practice. Sophomores can make their junior year less hectic by determining test preference late in their sophomore year!

Need Based Scholarships for mock tests and classes are available through the College and Career Center
