Students on field day participating in the egg and spoon relay, the sponge relay, and the field hockey station. The students gave Friday's field day rave reviews!
Dear Haycock Families,
We could not have asked for a better day weather wise on Friday for field day! It was a beautiful day and so much fun for our students. Many thanks to Nisha Hecht, our PE teacher, for all she did to organize the games and schedule for field day. Gratitude also to the many parents who volunteered to help out. We couldn't have done it without you, and we appreciate you.
Please consider joining us for a family picnic on Thursday evening, June 4 from 5-7. The PTA has secured a bounce house! Pack your own picnic dinner or pre-order dinner from Chick-fil-A (link below). We look forward to gathering as a community to close out Haycock's 70th birthday year together. Grant money from the Fairfax250 Commission allowed us to purchase a small Haycock birthday memento for all our students.
We are excited that all our 4th graders are going to release the trout they have been raising all year at Elizabeth Furnace, Virginia on Thursday. Their participation in the Trout in the Classroom program has been a wonderful year- long learning experience for them. We thank the Haycock PTA for subsidizing this field trip for our 4th graders.
If you have a graduating high school senior who attended Haycock, remind them to join us on Monday, June 8 at 2:30 to walk the halls of Haycock one last time in their graduation robes. We will give them the clap out that they didn't get the year they were in 6th grade due to Covid.💙
We are looking forward to celebrating our current 6th grade students on Wednesday, June 11 with end of year festivities for them, and again on Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. for their promotion ceremony in the gym. It's hard to believe we are this close to the end of the school year.
With appreciation for your partnership,
Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu
Heather Boyd, AP HABoyd@fcps.edu
Krystal Styles, AP krstyles@fcps.edu

💻Optional Summer Laptop Checkout
We want to share an important opportunity about summer learning. This summer, all students will be allowed to take their assigned laptops/tablets home for the summer. This opportunity ensures every student has continued access to personalized learning tools—like Benchmark Universe and ST Math—during the summer. By having their device available during the summer, students can:
- Continue learning started during the school year
- Access high-quality, personalized educational resources
- Build important digital literacy and responsibility skills
- Practice routines that support their growth as learners
What You Need to Know
Students are not required to take their devices for the summer. If you wish for your student to have their device for the summer, please submit the summer check out form to your school's TSSpec (Theresa Eastman) by Wednesday June 17, 2026. Devices and chargers may be picked up at the school during the week of June 29th - July 2nd.

💸School Board Adopts Fiscal Year 2027 Approved Budget
On May 21, the Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Approved Budget, continuing FCPS’ commitment to sustaining excellence by prioritizing competitive compensation and strategic investments that support student success.
The adopted budget reflects the division’s ongoing efforts to navigate a challenging fiscal environment shaped in part by chronic state underfunding and economic uncertainty. Despite these challenges, the budget maintains key investments and restores several reductions made during the prior fiscal year. Read about the FY 2027 Budget.
