A Note from the Principal
Dear Daniels Run Families,
It was a short but busy week at Daniels Run! While we are wrapping up our end-of-year assessments, our classrooms remain full of exciting learning experiences, projects, presentations, and celebrations as we bring another wonderful school year to a close.
This morning, we enjoyed a fantastic turnout for Donuts with Dragons. Thank you to all of the family members who joined us, and a special thank you to our PTA for their support in making this event possible. It was wonderful to see so many members of our school community gathered together to start the day.
We are also proud to announce that Daniels Run has been officially designated as a No Place for Hate School. This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a school environment where every student feels safe, valued, respected, and included. Throughout the year, our students and staff have participated in activities and initiatives that promote kindness, empathy, and belonging. This designation is a testament to the positive culture our entire school community works together to build each day.
Next week is filled with special events that highlight the accomplishments and traditions that make this time of year so meaningful. On Monday, we will welcome back the Fairfax High School seniors as they walk our halls one final time before graduation. Our students always enjoy cheering on these former Dragons and celebrating their achievements.
On Friday, our sixth graders will enjoy their end-of-year party as they prepare for the next chapter of their educational journey. We are excited to celebrate this remarkable group of students and all they have accomplished during their time at Daniels Run.
We will also begin our Success Day celebrations next week, starting with our second-grade students on Friday. These events recognize the hard work, growth, and achievements of our students throughout the year and are always a highlight of the spring season.
The final weeks of school are some of the busiest and most memorable of the year, and we look forward to celebrating with our students and families as we finish the year strong.

AAP News
Our Young Scholar students in grades 3-5 recently worked on a special courtyard project to help plan our upcoming school remodel. The students took this task very seriously. They loved sharing their ideas and focused heavily on making sure our new courtyard is a welcoming, comfortable, and easy-to-use space for every child. They even got to pitch their favorite ideas directly to our City of Fairfax Superintendent! These designs are now on their way to the school architects to look over for the final remodel. We are so proud of our students' hard work, creativity, and teamwork. Thank you to our young scholars for helping build a better school for everyone!

Refresh your home library for the summer by participating in our upcoming book swap.
How it Works

What to Bring: Gently used books for elementary students (fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or picture books).

Drop-off (May 28 – June 3): Bring your books to the library to have them recorded.

The Swap (June 8 – June 12): Visit the library during your regular class time to pick out your "new to you" books!

1-for-1 Exchange: You can swap up to 5 books.

Donations: Any books brought beyond the first 5 will be accepted as donations for fellow students.

Goal: Find some great new reads to enjoy over summer break!

Please Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance
It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.
If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.
End of School Year Medication Reminder
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.
If your student will be enrolled in a summer program sponsored by Fairfax County Public Schools, the existing medication authorization form(s) may be used for the summer program, but you will need to pick up the medication on the last day of school and deliver the medication and completed forms to the summer learning site on the first day of the summer program. Please let the health room know if you would like a copy of the form(s).

🎵 Musician of the Year: It's time for parents, students, staff & community to vote! Who was your favorite musician this year? Click here to review the 9 musicians we studied and then vote for your favorite musician of the month. You can also recommend a musician for next year. Voting closes Friday, morning June 5.
🎵 SUMMER CHOIR CAMP: 1 week camp at George Mason University: Grades 1-8.
🎵 E-IFTA is a weekly arts camp for students currently in grades K-5 who love to sing, dance, act, perform, make, and create. Students take part in 4 daily classes related to dance, music, theater, and visual art. They work with FCPS fine arts teachers who create fun and engaging classes.
🎵 IFTA is a 2- or 3-week summer enrichment program for students currently in grades 6-11.

Caribbean American Heritage Month
FCPS celebrates the rich diversity and honors the many contributions of immigrants of Caribbean heritage to our nation during the month of June. Caribbean individuals are some of the most ethnically diverse in the world. There are more than 8.5 million individuals in the United States born in the Caribbean or of Caribbean ancestry. FCPS Pre-K and Early Head Start Programs –Apply Now
The FCPS PreK programs provide a high-quality early learning experience for qualifying children ages 4 and 3 years old by September 30 who live in Fairfax County. Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible; students who are 4 years old and those with multiple risk factors are prioritized.
Applications are accepted online, by email, or by mail or in person at our office at 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.

Fairfax HS World Language Summer Camp
Rising 5th–7th grade students in the Fairfax High School pyramid are invited to explore French, Spanish, Latin, and German at the FREE Fairfax High School World Language Summer Camp!
Students will learn from Fairfax High School teachers and honor students while enjoying hands-on activities and culture-themed fun.
This free camp is sponsored by the City of Fairfax School Board and is open to students in the Fairfax HS Pyramid.
