April Panther of the Month Students
Dear Stone Families,
As summer approaches, we want to share an important safety reminder regarding scooters, electric bikes, and other motorized vehicles being used in the community. Recently, community members have shared concerns about unsafe riding behaviors near intersections and neighborhood roads, particularly during evening hours and in areas with limited visibility.
We encourage families to take a few moments to review important safety expectations with their children, including:
- Always wear a helmet
- Use lights or reflective/bright clothing when riding near dusk or in low visibility
- Slow down and use caution near intersections and driveways
- Stop and look carefully before crossing roads
- Stay alert and avoid distractions while riding
- Follow traffic rules and ride responsibly
- Use sidewalks when possible and appropriate
Our Giant Shopping Center neighbors have shared concerns about student behaviors and large student gatherings at the shopping center after school. Please remind your student of behavior expectations in the community.
This week, we celebrated 70 students being inducted into the National Junior Honor Society along with our Panther of the Month students. Congratulations to all these students!
As we look forward to next week, I am excited to celebrate our 8th grade class with our annual promotion ceremony at Westfield High School. Promise you...it will be a good time.
Let's have a great week Panthers,
Sonya Williams
Principal
Special Thank you to Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation for your contributions of coffee to fuel our staff!
FCPS Student Lunch
Please Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance
It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.
If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.
 Stone Summer Sendoff
Parents we need your help! June 17th, the last day of school will be our 2nd Annual Stone Summer Sendoff! This is a special day for the students to celebrate together with all sorts of fun stations, sports, games, arts and crafts and more! We need support to make the day a success. Please review the Summer Sendoff Amazon Wish List and contribute what you can! We would love for you to share our link with your community too. All donations must be at Stone no later than Wednesday 6/10.
Here is the link to the Wish List: Summer Sendoff Wish List
In addition- we need parent volunteers to make this a success- last year we had over 30 volunteers! Volunteers will be needed from 7:45-10:30 am. Please make sure you have followed the approval process to be an FCPS volunteer. If your profile is already created, make sure to add Stone as one of your schools. We will send out additional information about volunteering in the next few weeks.
Here is the link for the Volunteer Approval.
Please email Alison Neun with any questions at anneun@fcps.edu.
A Message From the Health Room:
The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than 12:15 p.m. on the last day of school, June 17. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. School policy requires that medications be picked up by a parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with students.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to pick up medications during health room hours, Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., prior to the last day of school.
New medication authorization forms are required each school year. Forms for the upcoming school year may be obtained from the health room or online at https://www.fcps.edu/services/families-and-caregivers/family-academy/school-health-services. If you have any questions, please contact your school public health nurse, Reggie Santiago at 571-460-9581 or your school health room aide, Brenda Glenn at 703-631-5530. Thank you for your cooperation.

SY25-26 HS Credit Course Expunge Form
Middle school offers the unique opportunity to expunge a high school credit course (HS math courses and World Language Courses). This means that there would be no record of this year’s grade on their high school transcript. Please review your child's third quarter grades and contact your child's school counselor for any questions. If you would like to start this process, here is the link to the Expunge Form.
SY26-27 Schedule Request Review
As students complete their SOLs and reflect on their growth and progress this year, we encourage families to review their child’s course requests in SISParentVue under Schedule Request before the school year ends.
Please take time to review the following math resources, and let us know if you have any questions. Any course change requests should be submitted as soon as possible and no later than June 5 by contacting your child’s school counselor.

School Board Adopts Fiscal Year 2027 Approved Budget
On May 21, the Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Approved Budget, continuing FCPS’ commitment to sustaining excellence by prioritizing competitive compensation and strategic investments that support student success.
The adopted budget reflects the division’s ongoing efforts to navigate a challenging fiscal environment shaped in part by chronic state underfunding and economic uncertainty. Despite these challenges, the budget maintains key investments and restores several reductions made during the prior fiscal year. Read about the FY 2027 Budget.
