A huge thank you to Mr. DeLeo, our Drama teacher, for bringing The Great Kapok Tree to life with our talented 3rd grade students! Through this wonderful performance, students showcased both their acting talents and their science knowledge, sharing an important message about conservation and the beauty of the rainforest. We are so proud of their hard work and creativity!
Dear Bailey's Upper Families,
As we enter the final few weeks of the school year, we wanted to share an important reminder about this time of transition for our students.
While many children are excited for summer break, they are also preparing to say goodbye to a school family they have built over the course of this year. Together, they have experienced challenges, growth, laughter, learning, routines, structure, and connection. Most importantly, they have experienced care and love from the adults and classmates who have been part of their daily lives.
For many students, even when they are excited, endings can feel hard. Saying goodbye to teachers, classmates, routines, and the predictability of the school day can bring out big emotions — and sometimes those feelings show up in unexpected ways.
Summer can also feel overwhelming for some children if there is not a clear sense of structure or routine ahead. Now is a wonderful time to begin talking as a family about what summer will look like. Sharing routines, plans, expectations, and opportunities for connection can help children feel more secure and prepared for the transition.
Over these next few weeks, we encourage you to continue checking in with your child about how they are feeling. Some students may express excitement, while others may quietly experience sadness, worry, or uncertainty.
Thank you for partnering with us in supporting our students not only academically, but emotionally as well. We are so proud of the growth they have made this year and grateful for the community we have built together.
With gratitude,
Bailey’s Upper Admin Team

On May 21, the Fairfax County School Board unanimously adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Approved Budget, continuing FCPS’ commitment to sustaining excellence by prioritizing competitive compensation and strategic investments that support student success.
The adopted budget reflects the division’s ongoing efforts to navigate a challenging fiscal environment shaped in part by chronic state underfunding and economic uncertainty. Despite these challenges, the budget maintains key investments and restores several reductions made during the prior fiscal year. Read about the FY 2027 Budget.
