Around the building

All around Haycock, students are getting ready for Field Day and enjoying some folk dancing together

Dear Haycock Families,

Happy Memorial to all.  In spite of the rainy weekend, we honor and remember those who have made the supreme sacrifice for our country.

This is a reminder that tomorrow is a work day for teachers and Wednesday is a holiday for Eid al-Adha.  We will look forward to seeing our students back at school on Thursday, May 28.

Friday, May 29, is field day.  The weather looks like it will cooperate!  Many thanks to the over 85 parents/guardians who have volunteered to help with field day.  We ask that if you are not signed up to volunteer that you do not come to field day to watch your child.  This makes a smooth running of field day much more difficult.  We promise to make sure all students have fun, are safe, and that we take lots of pictures to share.

Please put Thursday, June 4 on your calendar.  We'll have a community picnic on the fields behind Haycock.  This is a great way to finish up the year and close the 70th year celebration for Haycock.  Join us out back with a packed picnic dinner (food trucks will also be available) from 5-7.  We hope to see you at this fun end of year event to bring us all together.

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP   HABoyd@fcps.edu

Krystal Styles, AP   krstyles@fcps.edu

💸Please Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance

It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.

💊Student Medication Pick Up - Clinic Reminder

The school health room is reminding parents and guardians that all medication stored in the health room must be picked up no later than the student dismissal time on the last day of school, June 17th. Medication left in the health room after that time will be destroyed. It is school policy that medications must be picked up by the parent or guardian. Medication cannot be sent home with your student.  Please contact the front office if you have questions.

📚Library Information for End of Year

As the school year wraps us, thanks for your cooperation and support in helping us get library books returned home to their shelves for the Summer.

Your efforts will make a big difference as we work together to end the school year strong and show responsibility!

Important Dates:

  • May 22: Last day for student library book checkout
  • June 3: All student library books due

Prizes will be given to homerooms that return (or complete a lost book option for) all their books!

If a library book has been lost, please complete one of the options below as soon as possible so we can clear your student’s account:

  1. Replace the book – Purchase a new copy and donate it to the library. OR
  2. Contribute to the replacement fund – Pay for the book using MySchoolBucks((under Library Fines & Lost Books) or send cash/check (payable to Haycock Elementary School). The library will take care of purchasing a replacement. OR
  3. A heartfelt note or drawing – Your student may write a short letter or create a drawing explaining what happened and how they will take better care of library books in the future.

If you have any questions, feel free to email our librarian, Ms Sklar at jsklar@fcps.edu.

Thank you again for your partnership and support!

🍎Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.

If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.
