Eid Mubarak to all who observe! Eid al-Adha, or the “Feast of Sacrifice,” is the second of two main holidays celebrated in Islam. Muslims believe that Eid al-Adha signifies the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim, known as Abraham in Christianity and Judaism, to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as ordered by Allah. It focuses on sacrifice, the pilgrimage to Mecca and giving to those less fortunate. |
Friday, May 22 will be the last day for students to check out books for this school year. All library books are due on June 3. Please encourage your students to look for any missing library books at home, in the classroom, or in backpacks, etc. The more books we get back, the fewer books I have to replace with our library money, and the more books we will have in our library to share. Thank you so much for supporting our readers. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Lively. Thank you! |

Please join us for Parklawn’s annual Summer Reading Kickoff in the cafeteria on Thursday, June 4th from 6:00-7:00. Every child will receive a free book to begin summer reading. We will also have information about ways to support your child with reading over the time away from school. Bring a beach towel to read on the front lawn of the school after choosing a book. We will have popsicles too! |
Parklawn Elementary School is pleased to inform you of Bridge to Kindergarten, which is designed for students entering kindergarten next fall who have had little or no preschool experience. The program will focus on kindergarten routines, building relationships with peers, participating in games and activities, and becoming familiar with the school environment.
Our Bridge to Kindergarten students will attend Glen Forest Elementary School, Monday-Friday, July 6 to July 24 from 8:55am to 12:55pm. This program is free and bus transportation will be available from within our school boundaries.
Students will be given the opportunity to be invited to Bridge to Kindergarten when they are registered for kindergarten. If you have a rising kindergartener and have not yet registered, please be sure to call Parklawn on Monday morning to register and join the list for Bridge to Kindergarten.
