Principal’s Message to Families
Dear Ravens Families,
As we navigate the final weeks of May and the school year, we are energized by our students’ excitement, and we are making every single moment with them count!
Here is a quick look at what’s happening around our campus:
-
Adventure Awaits: It was a massive week for experiential learning! We had many field trips taking place across various grade levels. These included Mount Vernon and Hidden Pond. We loved seeing our students take their learning out into the community and being able to spend time with our students and chaperones.
-
Celebrating Our 5th Graders: A huge congratulations to our 5th-grade students, who officially completed their Science SOLs this week. They worked incredibly hard, and we are so proud of their focus and dedication.
-
SOL Testing Wrap-Up: For any students who missed a test or qualified for a re-test, SOL make-ups and retakes will continue running through the first week of June.
-
We Want Your Input: Please don’t forget to complete and submit your Parent Input Form for next year. Your feedback is invaluable as we begin planning class placements and scheduling.
-
Calling All Rising Kindergarteners! If you have a child—or know a neighbor or friend with a child—who will be starting kindergarten this fall, please register for school ASAP. Early registration is critical for helping us secure the right number of teachers and resources for the upcoming year.
As we head into the long weekend, our school community takes a moment to pause and reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day. We honor and remember the brave servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms. We are deeply grateful for their service, and our thoughts are with the military families in our own community who give so much.
Thank you for partnering with us, keeping up with the special events, and cheering your children on to the finish line. We could not do this without our amazing parent community!
Warmly,
Shannon Mueck, Principal
May - Patrol of the Month
Congratulations to our May Patrol of the Month, 6th grader, Caroline Novak. Caroline has taken on extra responsibilities this year as a bus patrol and recently helped a student transition to a new bus and be his “buddy.” She has shown dedication as a leader and has been a true role model for safety. Awesome job, Caroline! |

📚 Exploring the Earth in Language Arts 📚
Benchmark Unit 8 in Language Arts is about earth science. Students in K-5 will be learning about the world around them, different natural processes, and the solar system. Grade six students will be exploring the earth’s structures and how they inspire our endeavors.
Connect with your child’s learning at school with these fun questions and hands-on activities at home:
- Question: What’s your favorite thing about our earth?
- Activity: Fill a Ziplock bag with water, tape it to a sunny window, and watch condensation and evaporation in action by seeing how the water level changes over time.
At the end of the unit, your child will take their unit magazine home. The magazine includes an activity calendar with fun ways to help students build on what they’re learning at each grade level. You can also find information on how to support your child’s reading at home on the Benchmark Families website
Strings Registration 🎻 – 4th Grade
Rising 4th grade students have an exciting opportunity to join the Ravensworth Strings program next school year! Students will learn a string instrument, develop musical skills, and have fun performing throughout the year. You will get to choose from Violin, Viola, Cello, or the Bass.
No prior music or performance experience required! All we ask for is a willingness to learn and participate!
You will need to rent an instrument from a local music store when we return in August. If family finances are a concern, please speak with RES admin and Mr. Wentz about options next year. Please don't let money be the reason you think you cannot do Strings next year.
Please click or scan the QR code and complete the online form by May 29th, 2026, and please read everything carefully. In the past, we have done registration in the Fall, but we're getting a jump on next year already!
All students must complete the form, even if they do NOT plan to participate in strings. This helps us plan appropriately for next year’s classes.
We look forward to making music together! 🎶
