Graduation is 17 calendar days away!!
Last week one of our own Wolverines was highlighted in a special segment from our Superintendent, Dr. Reid, Senior student, Samuel Finnegan Our Voices, Our Future video Congratulations Samuel!!

FCPS Cares- Congratulations! The following staff member has been recognized as an employee who shows that FCPS CARES. Mikquan Johnson
Mikquan Johnson is being recognized by his ART teacher for his exceptional work with our students who have IEPs. In his TV and Media Production class, Mr. Johnson is consistently patient and thoughtful when grouping students for projects. He excels at meeting students where they are and providing constructive feedback on their film projects. This guidance has proven highly successful, as the quality of the students' work continues to improve with each assignment. Mikquan Johnson is the GOAT!
FCPS CARES submission: Dr. Brittney Floyd
Dr. Brittney Floyd builds positive working relationships with her advisory students individually through one to one attention and genuine interest in their pursuits. Her students thrive on these interactions and routinely seek out Dr. Floyd for her support and guidance. She empowers them with her belief in their abilities as students and individuals and helps them select courses that are challenging and a good fit based on their needs and interests. Dr. Floyd takes such a strong interest in their future that they readily engage and believe they can be successful.
I’m excited to announce that our teacher, Josh McFarland has been featured in In the Spotlight video for FCPS. Click the link and view. The description is below:
Josh McFarland, a West Potomac High School alumnus, traveled from the oil fields of Alaska back to the classrooms of Alexandria to transform how students learn. After a career in petroleum geology, he realized that the best way to master a skill isn't always through a textbook. From mastering technical tools to building professional teamwork, see how FCPS students are creating tangible projects that improve their school and their community.
AP and SOL testing are going very well. We thank all our faculty and staff and our school counselors for all their work to administer and proctor testing.

Below is an overview of SOL testing, AP testing, senior exams, underclass exams, and important end-of-year dates.
The Spring Testing & Exam Information below includes everything students and families need to know for the remainder of the school year. This includes SOL testing dates, AP exam schedules, senior exam information, underclass final exam schedules, special bell schedules, graduation details, and important dismissal times.
We encourage students and parents to review the information carefully and mark important dates on their calendars. Additional reminders and updates will be shared as testing approaches.

☀️ Summer Laptop Checkout (Underclass)
If you are returning to West Potomac HS for the 2026-2027 school year, please keep your laptop over the summer.

ACTION REQUIRED: You must fill out the Summer Checkout Form to keep your laptop for the summer and to use next school year.

Summer School: If you are attending (or plan to attend) summer school, you must complete the checkout form to ensure your laptop remains active.

🎓 Seniors: Return Instructions
Return your laptop and charger to the Tech Office (Room 311) as soon as possible. If you are not using your school laptop, return it now to beat the rush!

PTSA News
- We've had a busy month with Teacher Appreciation Week, Rising Star student recognition, A/B Honor Roll recognition, and our final meeting of the year featuring a fantastic panel of graduating seniors. We LOVE celebrating our students and teachers and we appreciate all the volunteers and donors in our Wolverine community that help us do it! - We have one last restaurant night fund-raiser for this year. Visit Five Guys on Quander Rd on June 8 (between 4-8pm) and 20% of your purchase comes back to us to support our school.
SENIOR BASH, JUNE 4th- Tickets on sale now!! Our senior celebration will be held from 6pm-9pm, June 4th, on the WP Auxiliary Field. This is an annual fun filled event for our seniors with a DJ, Chipotle, Mr. Softee, inflatables, rides, an obstacle course, zip line, great raffle prizes and more! Tickets are $26pp. Each entry ticket includes 10 raffle tickets. You may also choose to purchase extra raffle tickets. Students must be present to win. Tickets must be purchased in advance. GRADUATION VIP FAMILY SEATING - The Class of 2026 will be raffling off TWO sets of VIP family seating for graduation (for seating up to 8 family members). SENIOR DUES - It’s never too late to pay your students senior dues, they can't graduate without it!! $85 fee includes a cap/ gown/ tassel and end of year school activities. If you have a student receiving free or reduced school meals and have a Consent to Share form on file, please see Ms. Kinsey or Ms. Firesheets in the finance office for information on reduced dues.

Test Prep News!
Summer SAT Test Prep Class Registration Open
There is enough interest to run one summer SAT prep class targeting prep for the August 22 official SAT. This in an in-person class, Gunston Building, Room 190A.
Registration and schedule are available at https://guidewelleducation.onecanoe.com/applerouth/registration/create?event_code=SATBE5A.
Most students will show a strong preference for either the SAT or ACT format. This preference usually results in students naturally testing the SAT equivalent of 100 points higher on their preferred test. Sponsored by PTSA, mock tests are offered through Applerouth to help students determine their preferred format and establish baseline test scores – not to mention the benefits of practice. Sophomores can make their junior year less hectic by determining test preference late in their sophomore year!
