Apply by June 1: FCPS Educational Technology Review Committee

Dear Community Members,

Fairfax County Public Schools is establishing a new Educational Technology Review Committee (ETRC), and School Board Member Melanie Meren will appoint one member from Hunter Mill District. The ETRC will serve as an advisory body to FCPS leadership, providing recommendations on the responsible, effective, and equitable use of educational technology, including artificial intelligence use in classrooms.

Membership will include parents/caregivers, students, teachers, and school-based administrators and will be representative of elementary, middle, and high school levels.

The committee will meet on a regular basis during the school year, with additional working group meetings as needed. Each committee member is expected to attend one monthly, in-person meeting and commit roughly two to five hours per month.

Members will be asked to serve a one-year term and may be reappointed.

Additional details about the committee's focus are found here.

Melanie seeks  applicants who have thought deeply about the role of technology on children's learning. The ideal candidate will be familiar with  strategies and practices that consider how  technology is intentionally integrated with instruction.
