Principal's Message
Dear Chesterbrook Families,
We look forward to seeing our students back on Thursday. As we enter the final stretch and last few weeks, please take note of the special days ahead to celebrate the work of our students as we close out the 25-26 school year.
As the rain will hopefully be behind us soon and we look forward to sunny days to end the year, we are seeing a rise in students walking and biking, which is wonderful. Remember that in order for students to do so independently, parent and principal permission is required - the permission slip is below. Students should be in 4th grade or above and know the path well that they have taken before with parent support. Your home also needs to be within a 1 mile walking/biking safe radius. Students must go directly home and are not permitted to go to Starbucks or other hang out spots without first checking in at home. Student safety is our utmost priority and we thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Stacy Kirkpatrick
PLEASE Leave the Toys at Home
Unless your child has an approved need for a specific small figet with a plan in place or you have spoken directly with your child's teacher about a need, please keep their toys at home. We are seeing a rise in Needoh's and other large squishy items that are creating distractions and hazards in school. Explosions of the squishy toys have become a more recent problem and the chemicals inside are slippery and impacting instruction. Thanks for helping keep the backpacks ready for school!

Summer Quest Registration
Wait Until 8th Pledge
Wait Until 8th is a growing local and national movement empowering parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade (a basic call/text device is ok). A growing number of McLean schools have launched pledges, including all of the feeder elementary schools to Longfellow and McLean High School. Nearly 250 families at Franklin Sherman and Haycock have already signed the pledge this school year!
Together we can help kids stay focused on friends, family, school, and activities before taking on the responsibility of a smartphone. If you're already on board and ready to sign, you can do so here. If you’re interested in helping to grow this pledge at Chesterbrook, please email Liz McDonald at lizmcdonald@gmail.com (very minimal time commitment!).

High School Senior Graduating Class of 2026!
Senior Clap Out Monday, June 8th at 12:30 PM
Spread the Word! We look forward to welcoming back our 2026 seniors this year for a special clap-out before they graduate. Our high school seniors are the group of 6th grade students that left Chesterbrook in March 2020 during the Covid Pandemic and missed their last days in person at Chesterbrook, as well as their final clap-out and in person promotion. We look forward to celebrating them as they return to walk the halls in June. We will hold an outdoor reception following the clap out.
