Thoreau Matters Friday, May 15, 2026

Dear Thoreau Families,

As the final weeks of the school year approach, it is vital that we maintain our collective momentum. This home stretch is the perfect opportunity for students to demonstrate the growth and grit they’ve developed since August. Let’s work together to ensure every student crosses the finish line with pride!

To help your student navigate these final weeks successfully, please keep the following in mind:

  • Academic Discipline: Help students stay on top of their remaining projects and daily assignments. Organization is key to managing the end-of-year workload. Refer to the Schoology calendar for upcoming deadlines.
  • Consistency in Attendance: Every day counts
  • Stay Informed: Please keep a close eye on your email and future editions of Thoreau Matters. We have a packed calendar of events, ceremonies, and updates heading your way.

Your partnership at home makes all the difference in our students’ success. We are incredibly impressed by the hard work our community has shown this year, and we can’t wait to celebrate these final achievements with you.

Sincerely,

Teresa Khuluki

Principal

Thank you Westwood Cares!

The Madison Pyramid Schools are honored to be the recipients of a generous donation from the Westwood Cares Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Westwood Country Club. Dedicated to uplifting our community, the Foundation focuses on tackling food insecurity and expanding access to youth sports. Following the presentation of a donation check last week, Thoreau Middle School has already received a $3,000 grant to support our students in need. Our sincere thanks to Westwood Cares for their incredible partnership!

💡Thoreau TSA Triumphs in Hampton!🏆

From April 30-May 4th, our newly formed Thoreau Technology Student Association (TSA) team traveled to Hampton, VA to compete—and made an incredible debut! We are thrilled to announce that all eight of our students placed as finalists (Top 10) across all five of the events they entered.

Special congratulations to our Biotech team for bringing home 2nd place, and to our Structural Engineering team for their 3rd place finish! Both fantastic teams have officially qualified to compete at the National Competition this June at the Gaylord Hotel in Maryland. We couldn't be prouder of their hard work and dedication.

Thank you to our administration and dedicated parents for your continued support as these students pursue their passions! A special thank you to parents Gaile Phomrose, Kimberly Kuang and Alice Suh for coaching our team at States.
