Roadrunner Rundown

May 11, 2026

Principal's Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We would like to thank you for the many ways you showed appreciation to our staff last week. Lisa Swink designed a fantastic theme around the World Cup which provided so much team building and connection! We would also like to thank the PTA for celebrating our staff all week long with a coffee/tea bar, Bike/Walk/Run to Breakfast, pottery sessions, CAVA Lunch, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream and raffle prizes. Your genuine gifts of kindness were deeply appreciated. Last week allowed us to pause and reflect on the wonderful staff and the important work they do and reminded all of us how great it is to be partnering with such a wonderful community.

Our final 3 hour early release for the school year will be thus Wednesday, May 13th. Families should follow the same dismissal plan they chose previously. We will not accommodate changes on the 13th, except for emergencies.

We hope you can join us for the Family Picnic this Friday evening, 5:30-7:30 pm. This is always a fun evening for families and staff to relax and enjoy one another’s company.

Have a great week!

Matthew Chapman, Toni Nauflett, and Kelly Willis

MRES Spring Picnic

Calling all Roadrunners for the ultimate end-of-year picnic this Friday, May 15 at 5:30 pm

  • Live Entertainment: We are thrilled to announce that School of Rock will be providing the soundtrack for the evening!
  • Dinner & Treats: Take the night off from cooking! We will be selling pizza, and we’ll have FREE freeze pops for everyone to cool down!
  • Field Games: Plenty of fun, games, and space for the kids to run and play.

We still need your help! This massive event takes a village to pull off. If you are interested in helping with setup, activities, clean-up, or keeping the fun going, please reach out to Miranda at mirandaegan@gmail.com to get involved!

Get Involved at Marshall Road: Join the PTA Board!

What a year! Thanks to the many parents and community members who volunteered their time and energy to support the Marshall Road PTA. Your involvement makes our school stronger!

Be part of the magic next year by joining the PTA Board! We have several critical board and committee positions opening up for the 2026/2027 school year and YOU might be the perfect Roadrunner for the spot.

Whether you have a little time or a lot, your voice matters! Interested in getting involved or just want to learn more? Reach out to Monica at president@marshallroadpta.org.

Final PTA Meeting of the Year

Save the date for the final PTA meeting of the year–Wednesday, May 20th at 8:00 am. Join us in person in the cafeteria or hop on Zoom (Meeting ID: 953 649 4776 | Passcode: dQ3Zz2).

5th Grade Families Needed to Organize and Serve Refreshments at the 6th Grade Ceremony

The 6th grade Moving Up Ceremony will take place on June 16 at 10:00 am.  A reception for sixth grade students and their families follows the ceremony.  Traditionally, 5th grade families organize and serve refreshments at this event.  The courtesy is returned to them the following year when someone serves them when they have graduating sixth graders. The cost is funded by the PTA. If you are interested in helping with this event, please reach out to Monica at president@marshallroadpta.org.

Staff Spotlight

Staff Spotlight

Hooray for Ms. Gimenez, our incredible School Health Aide, who snagged the PTA Priority Parking Spot this week! And who better to tell you about the legend than herself?

“Hi! I am Regina Gimenez. Kids know me as "Ms. Regina or Señora Regina".  I am the one that cleans wounds, makes silly jokes when kids are crying, sometimes sings to them when they are sad, takes their temperature in both ears, the one that doesn't let your kid leave the Health Room without tying their shoelaces, AND, the one who calls you for head injuries and or for silly head bumps.

I am from Argentina and came to the USA 30 years ago to study English (I am still studying!), got married and have the best 3 kids ever! My last one is graduating from Oakton High School this year and will be studying at  Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt  University in the fall.

I love animals, outdoors and playing tennis. I take care of each of your kids as if they were my own. Funny thing about me: I always relate words with songs and I like to sing (or scream) while singing alone.

Since I started working at MRES 4 years ago, it has been incredibly easy to see and perceive the sense of community, the respect for differences, the support between colleagues, and the attention that adults give to each student. "Rooted in kindness" is more than a meaningful phrase, it is an everyday priority at MRES, where I feel included and respected.

Thanks to each of you for allowing me to be part of MRES family!”
