Our students attended the Special Olympics Feet Meet at Madison HS!
Dear Fairfax Villa Community,
It has been a great week at Fairfax Villa as our students completed their first SOL Assessment for Reading! It was wonderful to see the energy throughout the building — students were full of confidence and, dare we say, even excitement! We are so proud of the hard work they have put in throughout the year and are excited for them to have the opportunity to show what they know.
Looking ahead to the upcoming week, students in Grades 3–6 will be taking their Math SOL Assessment. We encourage you to talk with your student about their upcoming assessment and remind them to take their time, do their best, and show what they know. Building them up with confidence and encouragement goes a long way and helps students feel supported and ready to succeed.
Additionally, please note that this Wednesday, May 13th, will be our final Early Release Wednesday of the school year. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 PM while staff participate in professional development opportunities.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and continued support at home. We are truly lucky to serve your children each day and appreciate all that you do to support our school community. If there is ever anything we can do to support your family, please do not hesitate to reach out and connect with us.
Ms. Textoris & Mrs. Burke
Our students will be taking their Math SOL next week!
- Grades 5 & 6 will test on Tuesday, May 12th
- Grades 3 & 4 will test on Thursday, May 14th
We encourage families to help set students up for success by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast each morning.
Being well-rested and fueled helps students stay focused, think clearly, and do their very best during testing!
Early registration for Kindergarten helps us determine accurate class sizes, staffing, and resources. See below about registration information -- or visit our website!
Kindergarten Registration
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment (the student and one caregiver must be present).
Read more about the registration process.
We invite you to register for up to two adults and your rising Dragon to join us on May 13, from 2pm - 3pm. Please arrive at 1:50pm to check in.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend by submitting this form.
During the orientation, you'll have the opportunity to meet the dedicated teachers and administrative team who will be guiding your child's educational path. Your child will have the chance to explore their future classroom environment and engage in fun activities.
If your child is turning 5 years old on or before September 30, 2026, we encourage you to enroll at Fairfax Villa before the orientation date.

As required by the Code of VA, parents or legal guardians need to provide proof of immunizations for their child to attend at a Virginia public school.
In addition, all students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations:
- Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older;
- Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older;
- A complete series of 2 doses of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parents or guardians sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with your child’s healthcare provider now to avoid the rush this summer. Immunization appointments are available. Inspire Health Alliance will be providing immunizations for currently enrolled FCPS students at no out-of-pocket cost. Visit the Inspire Immunization Events Student Registration webpage to schedule an appointment.
Please review the Virginia Department of Health Information Packet (PDF) for more information on rising 7th grade immunization requirements.
Additional Immunization Resources are also available.
We are pleased to announce that we will have community peers in our preschool program for the 26-27 school year. This will involve teaching preschoolers with delays and without delays in the same classroom. It can provide young children with a more stimulating environment, teach skills for coping with different situations, and provide the opportunity to learn appropriate social skills.
Our program will invite a limited number of community preschoolers (1-2 per class), who are aged 3.5-5 years, to participate in our daily preschool activities. The children from the community will have the opportunity to make new friends and share experiences with current early childhood special education students. Our students will, in turn, benefit from being with community peers who can model appropriate language, motor, and social skills.
On Monday, May 18th at 2:00 we will be holding a playdate on the playground for your student and parent information session in the main office. You and your student must attend the playdate/parent information session. Please let us know if you are interested. by calling the school at 703-267-2800.
It’s that time of the year where we seek parents to serve on the PTA Board of Members for the 26/27 School Year.
We are requesting your help to support the amazing staff that tend to our children.
If you are willing and able to serve, we need you! Please reach out to us at: VillaPTA@gmail.com
WHAT: Thanks to a grant from Educate Fairfax, we are able to begin a program for all of our families to check out Family Literacy Activity Bags from the Villa Library! The bags are designed for students of ALL AGES (including the adults) so that the entire family can enjoy reading together.
WHY:Reading at-home with your children is important to their reading and writing development. Children hear fluent reading, can discuss their understanding, and learn new vocabulary from reading a book with an adult.
HOW: Here is the link to the Check-out form and the required Permission form (you can complete them electronically).
Please submit a request via the link each week you would like a bag to go home on Thursday. We will reach out to let you know a bag is being checked out to you during the week.
At Fairfax Villa, we have a school improvement goal around improving our attendance rate. We would like to see our absenteeism rate decrease this year from 12% to 9%.
Here is our Attendance “Tip of the Week!”
Consistency in Routines: Create a consistent morning and bedtime routine. Predictable routines help children get enough sleep, wake up on time, and arrive at school ready to learn each day.
