Roadrunner Roundup
Dear Families
As we wrap up Staff Appreciation Week, our hearts (and breakrooms!) are incredibly full. On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, I want to extend a sincere thank you for the beautiful flowers, thoughtful cards, delicious treats, and the many words of encouragement we received.
Celebrating Our Exceptional Staff
Our staff members work tirelessly behind the scenes every day to create a nurturing and academically challenging environment for our students. Their dedication goes far beyond the classroom, and they are truly deserving of every bit of recognition. Seeing the community rally around them this week has been a powerful reminder of the strong partnership we share in supporting our children’s growth.
This week was nothing short of amazing, and we owe a massive debt of gratitude to Robyn McGowan, our PTA Hospitality Lead. Robyn’s creativity and tireless efforts were the driving force behind the week's festivities. From the welcoming decor to the seamless coordination, she made sure every staff member felt celebrated. Thank you, Robyn, for your incredible spirit and hard work!
In addition to the celebrations, our students have been working hard on their assessments. We are thrilled to share that the first week of SOLs has been completed with great success! We are so proud of our students' focus and perseverance, and we appreciate your support in ensuring they arrived at school rested and ready to do their best.
Important Reminder: Early Release
Please keep the following schedule update in mind for the coming week:
- Wednesday, May 13th: Early Release Day
-
Action Required: Please be sure to check your TalkingPoints messages to confirm your child’s specific dismissal plan. Ensuring these details are set in advance helps us guarantee a safe and smooth transition for all students.
Thank you for making this week so special. We are honored to serve this wonderful community!

Christie Yarn

2026-2027 Class Placement Information - Parent Input
As the end of the school year approaches, we are already looking ahead to next year. Our school team spends significant time creating heterogeneous classrooms with a balanced mix of academic needs, social dynamics, and student strengths.
Our Placement Process & Parent Input We believe that a successful classroom is built on instructional criteria and the individual needs of every student. To ensure this process remains fair and consistent for all families, we cannot honor requests for specific teachers.
It is far more valuable for you to share specific academic or behavioral information rather than a name. Your insight, combined with our staff’s recommendations, helps us find the best environment for your child’s success.
Submission Details
If you have pertinent information to support your child’s placement, please complete the Parent Input Google Form. Deadline: May 8, 2026.
Summer Learning Device Request
As we prepare for summer break, Little Run will be offering students currently in grades 1–5 the opportunity to take their school laptop home over the summer if they do not have access to technology at home. These devices are intended to support continued learning through educational programs such as ST Math and Lexia.
Please note that laptops are to remain at home during the summer and should not travel with students.
If your family needs to borrow a device for the summer, please complete the request form by May 28. All borrowed devices must be returned to Little Run by July 31.
Thank you for helping us support continued learning throughout the summer months!

FCPS Caters to Food Allergies
May is Food Allergy Awareness Month. The FCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) works to ensure every student has access to safe and nutritious school meals. Since 1 in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, FNS works closely with families to provide reasonable meal accommodations for students whose medical needs affect what they can eat at school.
To support students appropriately and safely, families are asked to submit medical documentation to FNS from a U.S. licensed health care provider so we can tailor meals to each child’s needs.
Learn more about the documentation required and the steps to develop a safe menu for students.
