CWES Vision and Mission Statement Vision and Mission Pep Rally Photos

Notes from the Administration

Dear Canterbury Woods Families,

This week at Canterbury Woods, we held an exciting pep rally to officially roll out our new Vision and Mission! This was a truly collaborative process that included input from all of our stakeholders staff, students, and families as we worked together to define what we want our school community to embody and achieve.

Our student leadership groups, including SCA, Patrols, and Student Ambassadors, played an important role in bringing the mission to life by developing a fun call and response that helped students learn and remember  in a pep rally style assembly atmosphere. It was wonderful to see our students so engaged and proud of the work we accomplished together.

We encourage you to take a moment to review our new Vision and Mission above. We are excited for the future of Canterbury Woods and look forward to continuing this work together as one school community!

This week we celebrated our teachers! Their dedication is essential to our students' growth and success. We're thankful for all our amazing CWES staff who create such a special environment. A big thank you to our PTA and families who helped us celebrate our teachers! Your support was truly appreciated.

Reminder: Wednesday, May 13th will be our last early release Wednesday of the school year. Students will be dismissed at 1:05 PM, following the same dismissal procedure as March. If you need to change your student's dismissal plans, please call the office at (703) 764-5600. The online transportation change form will be unavailable.

Wishing a very Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible mothers in our CWES community!

2026-2027 Family Input for Class Placement

Thank you for taking the time to share input about your child’s learning needs. This information, along with teacher recommendations and school-based data, helps guide our class placement process.

We are fortunate to have a strong and dedicated staff, and we ask that specific teacher names not be included on this form as we are unable to honor individual staff requests.

Our administration and teachers carefully review each submission as we work to create balanced classrooms and the best possible learning environment for every student. While all input is thoughtfully considered, we are not able to guarantee specific requests.

Please submit this form by May 15th to ensure your feedback is included in the placement process. Thank you for your partnership and support.

Food Allergies

FCPS Caters to Food Allergies

May is Food Allergy Awareness Month. The FCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) works to ensure every student has access to safe and nutritious school meals. Since 1 in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, FNS works closely with families to provide reasonable meal accommodations for students whose medical needs affect what they can eat at school.

To support students appropriately and safely, families are asked to submit medical documentation to FNS from a U.S. licensed health care provider so we can tailor meals to each child’s needs.

Learn more about the documentation required and the steps to develop a safe menu for students

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow. We All Belong Here!

In FCPS, we all belong. From the first day of school, to the last day of school, every child matters. If your student is having a hard time finishing the year strong and attending school, please contact a trusted adult at our school — a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Visit FCPS’ website for more attendance resources.
