Happy Friday, Panther Families:

Thank you once again for your incredible support in ensuring our students arrived well rested and with their school-issued laptops fully charged for Wednesday’s Reading SOL assessment. Your partnership continues to play a vital role in our students’ success.

Our 8th Grade students will take the Science 8 SOL on Tuesday, May 122026. We encourage all students to arrive prepared, confident, and ready to demonstrate all they have learned throughout the year.

We also ask for your continued support as students prepare for the Math SOL on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Please help us set our Panthers up for success by ensuring they get a good night’s rest, arrive on time, and bring their fully charged school-issued laptops.

In addition, we invite you to come out and support our Panthers as they take on Carson Middle School in our Basketball Showdown on Friday, May 15, 2026!  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Let’s pack the house, show our Panther pride, and cheer on our student-athletes as they represent Langston Hughes with excellence, determination, and heart.  Tickets will go on sale Monday.

Below are the remaining activities for the school year. Stay connected as we continue to finish the year strong — together!

STUDENT SERVICES

Social Emotional Learning

Students used results from last week’s Game Plan survey to research and explore post-graduate options and careers that may be of interest to them.  Family conversation starter: Ask your student to tell you something interesting they found in their career research.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to share ways that families can support students during testing season. Remind your child that taking breaks and checking in with their feelings can help their brain stay focused. Encourage them to use calming strategies like deep breathing or positive self‑talk when stress rises. Let them know that doing their best matters more than perfection and that asking for support is always a sign of strength.
