FCPS School Year Calendar
Edison Community,
It has been a great week at Edison as we celebrated our teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you to everyone who sent messages of appreciation to our staff. Those kind words truly put a smile on their faces and mean more than you know. Our teachers do so much each and every day for our students. They teach, mentor, support, encourage, and help guide our students across the finish line toward graduation. We appreciate all that they do for our school community.
A special thank you as well to all of the families who helped organize today’s Teacher Appreciation lunch. Our teachers truly appreciated the time, effort, and generosity that went into recognizing and celebrating them. Thank you to everyone who donated items and to those who came out to serve and support our staff.
Last Friday night, we had a wonderful prom celebration for our seniors. It was great to see students out on the dance floor celebrating together, enjoying the photo booth, and taking pictures throughout the venue with their friends. Prom is always such a special milestone, and it is truly an honor for our staff to be able to share that experience with our seniors. We are very proud of the Class of 2026 and are looking forward to all of the senior events and celebrations in the weeks ahead.
On Thursday evening, we had a wonderful JROTC awards ceremony. It was great to see students cheering one another on and celebrating each other’s accomplishments. Thank you to LT. Colonel Rosenberry and Sergeant Lee for all of the hard work and dedication they put into supporting our students and building such a strong program.
Earlier this week, we also held the JROTC Review and Retreat ceremony. Students marched in formation in front of the school alongside their families and staff members. It was impressive to see the discipline, pride, and hard work they have put into themselves throughout the year.
Thursday evening, we celebrated our boys tennis and boys lacrosse seniors during their senior nights. We also look forward to celebrating our boys soccer seniors tonight. As we near the end of the spring season, we could not be more proud of the commitment, teamwork, and dedication these student-athletes have shown throughout their seasons.
Good luck to our Unified Track team as they compete in their first and only meet this Saturday at Tuscarora High School. We wish them the very best in all of their track and field events.
As we head into next week, testing season continues with both SOL and IB testing. It is very important that students are present and on time for their testing sessions. Parents, if possible, please try to schedule appointments outside of testing times so students can test during their assigned window and avoid needing to test during the retake window.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our students, staff, and school community. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Amanda Burke Principal
What a fantastic night at Prom 2026 at Crystal View! Our students made memories to last a lifetime with an evening of laughter, dancing, and celebration. Thank you to everyone who helped make the night so special!
All Night Grad Party tickets can be purchased here: All Night Grad Party tickets
The party is a fun and safe place for our seniors to celebrate graduation. Note, only Edison Seniors may attend.
May is Food Allergy Awareness Month. The FCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) works to ensure every student has access to safe and nutritious school meals. Since 1 in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, FNS works closely with families to provide reasonable meal accommodations for students whose medical needs affect what they can eat at school.
To support students appropriately and safely, families are asked to submit medical documentation to FNS from a U.S. licensed health care provider so we can tailor meals to each child’s needs.
Learn more about the documentation required and the steps to develop a safe menu for students.
Come out Friday, May 15th, and see the Edison Choirs present their annual Night on Broadway: Heroes vs. Villains Edition! Students have been hard at work preparing their acts (both small and large), so you don't want to miss this! Edison Staff admitted free with a staff i.d.
The following immunizations are required for students 12th grade each school year.
All students entering 12th grade are to receive two doses of the Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) prior to the beginning of school. To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, one dose must be administered at age 16 or older.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with your child’s health care provider now to avoid the rush this summer. Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and health care providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time.
Immunization Events for FCPS Students
FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will provide school-required immunizations and optional flu shots for all FCPS students at no out-of-pocket cost. Multiple events will take place at designated FCPS locations.
Dates will be made available throughout the school year. Parents/guardians may view upcoming events and schedule an appointment for their student. Participation is voluntary. Additional immunization resources are also available.
Varsity softball defeated Justice High School 15-2 in five innings at home. Go Eagles!
This past weekend, a record 19 Edison Technology Student Association (TSA) students competed at Technosphere 2026 in Hampton, VA. Every student placed in the top-10 in at least 1 event, and every student qualified to Nationals!

Precision, discipline, and pride on full display. Our JROTC cadets demonstrated exceptional teamwork and commitment during this year's Review and Retreat ceremony. Honoring tradition while showcasing the leadership skills they've built all year. We are proud of their hard work, dedication, and the way they represent our school with excellence!
Thursday evening, we celebrated our Boys Tennis and Boys Lacrosse seniors during Senior Night! We are so proud of the dedication, teamwork, and commitment our student-athletes have shown all season long!

Edison Athletics Booster Club will offer six scholarships to graduating Edison High School seniors who have participated in Varsity Edison Athletics as a player. Applicants will be judged on athletic accomplishments, community service, coach’s recommendation, and written essay. Financial need is not a determining factor. Each scholarship award will be in the amount of $500. Scholarships (checks) will be made payable and sent directly to the recipient’s college or technical/vocational school. CLICK HERE for the application and information on how to submit your coach's recommendation. Deadline: Thursday, May 21.
Students will be participating in spring assessments based on their grade level and courses. This includes summative assessments like Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, which measure what a student knows, and progress assessments like Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests, which measure where they are in their learning.
FCPS encourages all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires schools to test at least 95% of students on SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately.
Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season.
It is important that students attend school on scheduled testing dates. If you are aware of a conflict that may cause your student to miss a test, please notify your student’s school as soon as possible.
