A big thank you to our wonderful families for helping us celebrate and show appreciation for our amazing staff. Your kindness and support mean so much, and our staff truly felt the love. We're also grateful to Raising Cane's for generously donating three bags of goodies for our staff raffle, adding an extra touch of joy to our celebration.
Dear Bailey's Upper Families,
What an incredible week we have had at school!
This week, we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, and we want to sincerely thank all of our families for helping us make our teachers feel so loved and appreciated. Our staff works tirelessly every day to support, encourage, and inspire our students, and it meant so much to see our school community come together to celebrate them.
Thanks to your generosity and support, we were able to treat our teachers with special snacks and treats throughout the week. Our students also created heartfelt thank you notes that truly brightened our teachers’ days. In addition, our administrative team surprised staff members with small “BUpper” gifts, including cups and mugs, as another way to show our appreciation for all they do.
We also want to take a moment to recognize our amazing students! This week, our students completed their Reading SOL assessments, and we could not be more proud of them. They worked incredibly hard, stayed focused, and gave their very best effort. We are already seeing signs of growth and progress compared to last year, and that is something worth celebrating!
Thank you for the support, encouragement, and partnership you provide at home each and every day. Your support truly makes a difference, and together we are helping our students grow and succeed.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
With gratitude,
Bailey’s Upper Admin Team

📂 This week’s Thursday Folder includes:
- PTA DC United Flyer (English & Spanish)
- PTA Soccer Classico Flyer (English & Spanish)

Please take a few minutes to review these items with your student so you stay up-to-date with all the exciting things happening in our school community!
We are incredibly proud of all the reading our students accomplished! Together, both schools logged over 128,000 reading minutes during the PTA Read-A-Thon. Congratulations to Sra. Aviles’ 3rd class for having the highest number of readers in 3rd grade and winning a class donut party!
Standards of Learning Tests (SOLs)
In preparation for the SOLs in May, we sent home a SOL Notification of Testing letter to all families in our Thursday, March 6th folders. We resent this letter this week on Thursday, April 16th. The letter shared information on the SOL’s your child will take this year. It explains that students will also have an opportunity to retake an SOL if needed. A parent retake permission form is included on the letter. If you would like your child to have the opportunity to retake an SOL, please plan to complete the bottom half of the letter and ask your child to return the form to their teacher. Retakes will be administered for those that qualify 2-4 days after the initial test date listed below.
Plan ahead! SOL Testing Dates by Grade are below:
3rd Grade
➗ Math SOL: Wednesday, May 13
4th Grade

Ms. Wiley taking time to recognize and celebrate our Military Connected students as we close out the month of April honoring their strength, resilience, and sacrifice. Thank you to these families for their service and dedication.
May is Food Allergy Awareness Month. The FCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) works to ensure every student has access to safe and nutritious school meals. Since 1 in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, FNS works closely with families to provide reasonable meal accommodations for students whose medical needs affect what they can eat at school.
To support students appropriately and safely, families are asked to submit medical documentation to FNS from a U.S. licensed health care provider so we can tailor meals to each child’s needs.
Learn more about the documentation required and the steps to develop a safe menu for students.
