Hello Families!
What a whirlwind of a week we’ve had! From high-stakes testing to high-energy BINGO, our school community has been buzzing with activity. Here is a look at what’s been happening around school.
🍎 A Heartfelt Thank You
Our staff felt incredibly spoiled this week! A massive thank you goes out to Mr. & Mrs. Yang and Mrs. Routh for their incredible leadership during Staff Appreciation Week. Your thoughtfulness and hard work made every teacher and staff member feel truly valued. We are lucky to have you!
📝 SOL Testing is Underway
This week, our students in Grades 3–6 began their state testing. We are so proud of the focus and stamina they’ve shown so far.
-
Student Scores can be found in ParentVue typically 48 hours after testing is completed. Students who do not pass on their first attempt, but had a score close to passing, will be offered reteaching and an opportunity to retake the test.
- Please continue to ensure your students get a good night's sleep and a healthy breakfast to help them perform their best!
🎲 BINGO Night Success
Thursday evening was a "full house"! We had a fantastic turnout for BINGO Night. It was wonderful to see so many families laughing, playing, and winning together. Thank you to everyone who came out to make it such a memorable community event. We appreciate the Roesslers, the Stenbergs, the Yangs, Mrs. McGuire, and Jaime and Elsa Petrik and the Woodson Key Club for supporting this event.
🚲 Rain or Shine: Bike & Walk to School
A little "liquid sunshine" didn't stop us! We want to extend a huge thank you to Mrs. Muratore and our hardy group of volunteers for coordinating Bike and Walk to School Day. Despite the wet weather, our students showed great spirit and stayed active.
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always, thank you for being such a vital part of our school family!
We will host a walk for graduating Woodson seniors on June 3rd at 2:30 pm. Seniors who attended Wakefield Forest are invited to be celebrated by our current students. Wear your cap and gown and meet us at door 1.

May is Food Allergy Awareness Month. The FCPS Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) works to ensure every student has access to safe and nutritious school meals. Since 1 in 13 children in the U.S. has a food allergy, FNS works closely with families to provide reasonable meal accommodations for students whose medical needs affect what they can eat at school.
To support students appropriately and safely, families are asked to submit medical documentation to FNS from a U.S. licensed health care provider so we can tailor meals to each child’s needs.
Learn more about the documentation required and the steps to develop a safe menu for students.
Mental Health Awareness Month is about more than awareness. It’s about showing up for one another. It provides a chance to stand with your community and show that no one struggles alone. Everyone is invited to speak up against mental health stigma. Learn more about Mental Health Awareness Month on the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) website.
