Dear Wonderful Navy Families,
We had a fantastic week with a lot happening around the school. Our students that participated in the Special Olympics and their peer athletes had a blast at the Feet Meet hosted by Madison High School. We will continue to build upon our inclusive practices in the coming years. A HUGE shout out to Eucee Chan for all the hard work and passion that went into making this happen for our students!
As we enter into teacher appreciation week, it would be wonderful if you take a moment to send your child's teacher a nice note, or use the FCPS Cares link below to celebrate them. Thanks for all that you do each day to prepare your students for school. We know it takes a village, and we're grateful!
We hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Navy Elementary was recently featured in a Fairfax County article highlighting our work during Child Abuse Prevention Month and the meaningful ways our students are learning about safety, empathy, and advocacy.
The article recognizes Chrissy McLaughlin, our School-Based Technology Specialist, for her leadership in bringing awareness to this important topic and guiding students in creating our blue ribbon tree. Through this experience, students explored how small actions can send powerful messages and learned that every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard.
We are proud of the compassion and thoughtfulness our students showed and grateful for the caring adults who help bring these lessons to life. Read the full article here to learn more about this impactful work in our Navy community.
We are so proud of our EAC students who recently participated in the Feet Meet, Virginia’s Special Olympics event! Before the competition, our school community came together for a special pep rally to cheer on our athletes and send them off with encouragement and school spirit.
Our students did a wonderful job representing Navy with determination, teamwork, and heart. A special thank you to Eucee Chen for her leadership in organizing this meaningful experience, and to our buddy students who supported and encouraged our athletes every step of the way.
We are proud of all who helped make this event such a success!
On School Lunch Hero Day, we proudly recognize our dedicated cafeteria staff who play a vital role in supporting student success.
Each day, they prepare and serve nutritious meals in a welcoming environment, helping ensure that all students are fueled and ready to learn. Their hard work, kindness, and commitment make a positive impact on our entire school community.
We are grateful for our lunch heroes, Gigi, T, Trang, Sue, Jenny & Pak. We thank them for the care they show our Navy Dolphins every day. Please join us in thanking them for all they do! 💙🐬
Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, we will share copies with you directly.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.

What is FCPS Cares?
The FCPS CARES Program offers families, staff, and community members a meaningful way to celebrate the outstanding efforts of our school staff. If you know an employee or team who has gone above and beyond to support students, colleagues, or our community, we encourage you to share your appreciation by submitting a recognition.
Your story helps highlight the care, dedication, and positive impact our staff bring to our school each day. Take a moment to recognize someone who has made a difference and help us celebrate the amazing work happening across our community.

The Spanish teachers are currently preparing for our upcoming Multicultural Night by organizing student and staff performances that showcase songs and dances in Spanish. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate language, culture, and the talents of our school community.
The event will take place on Friday, May 8, and is organized by our school’s PTO. We are excited to bring everyone together for an evening filled with music, movement, and cultural appreciation, and we look forward to sharing these meaningful performances with our families and community.
