Principal's Message

Hello Bruin Community!

This is a busy time for celebrations in FCPS. Earlier this week, we celebrated our bus drivers! Lake Braddock has over 60 drivers and attendants who tend to our students day in and day out and we are grateful for their service.

Today, we celebrate our Cafeteria staff with School Lunch Hero Day! They are amazing people who feed over thousands of students breakfast and lunch every day.

Finally, next week is Staff Appreciation Week and this year, the World Cup is Coming to Bruin Nation. We have a week full of fun events planned for our staff and we invite you to also take a moment to say thank you.

Go Bruins!

Spring Testing

The Spring Testing has begun. All-important testing information and the testing calendar can be found on the Lake Braddock Testing Website. Please note important dates your student may be testing and make every attempt to avoid testing interruptions through the first week of June.

High School students do not take every SOL therefore emails were sent to students providing non testing students with their study hall locations for May 7. Please be on the lookout for those emails.  Students need to bring their school issued laptops for testing, chargers and their own writing utensils.

If you have specific questions about testing, please reach out to your student’s counselor or subject specific teacher.

AP Testing Starts May 4

Everything about AP Testing is on LB's Advanced Placement website.

Students who are scheduled to take AP exams should have read through the AP Student Responsibilities document and the AP Exam Student Presentation 2026: What Bruins Need to Know About Taking AP Exams.  These items have been posted on the above website, Schoology, LBHS Counseling Facebook page, and sent to students and parents/guardians.

Parents/Guardians can help their students perform their best on these exams by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, bring their school-issued laptop to school for updates, charge it every night, and that the cell phone/electronic device policy is strictly enforced during AP testing season.

Our shared goal is your student’s success. If you have questions or concerns about AP testing, please conatct the AP Testing Team:

Students can be referred by a guardian or designated school staff member. You may refer your child by calling 571-749-2940 or by contacting an FCPS school counselor, social worker, psychologist, or director of Student Services. Visit the FCPS Teletherapy webpage for more information.

Your Child's Mental Wellness Matters: Access Comprehensive Services

The CSB has individual and family counseling, psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, parenting groups, peer support, crisis response, recovery supports that include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), intensive services, and other services.

Additional Mental Health Resources

FCPS has resources available to support your child’s mental health. During after-school hours, parents and students who need additional support can use the 988 Lifeline to get free, confidential guidance from trained crisis counselors on how to best help someone experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. You can call or text the number.

Recent reports have shared an 11% drop in suicides among young people since the rollout of 988. Please note, the hotline is not only for those experiencing suicidal ideation (or thoughts), it is also available for any mental health or substance abuse-related crisis and those with a loved one experiencing those crises or suicidal thoughts.

And as always, if your concern is an emergency, you should call 911.
