From the Desk of Dr. Williams
Dear Woodley Hills Family,
It has been an absolute joy to see our students approach their reading SOL testing this week with such focus and determination. We are officially off to a great start, and the positive energy in our hallways is a testament to the hard work your children have put into their learning all year long. We are so proud of the resilience they have shown, and we want to carry that same momentum into next week as we begin our math assessments.
To help your child feel their best for the upcoming math tests, please ensure they get a restful night of sleep and enjoy a healthy breakfast each morning. Encouraging them to take their time and check over their work can make a big difference in their confidence. We appreciate your continued partnership and support in making this testing season a smooth and successful experience for every student.
Dr. LaChelle R. Williams, Principal

Social Emotional Spotlight
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Now Available
Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding, and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, copies were sent to you directly.
Talking With Your Student about the Screener
- Focus on strengths
- Follow your student's lead
- End on a positive note
- What did your student learn about themselves?
After you’ve had a chance to review your student’s report you may wish to talk with them about it to learn more. Here are a few thoughts for supporting a discussion. First, it’s important to focus on strengths. This might include sharing a strength you saw in the report or a strength you’ve noticed in their daily life.
Follow their lead. Some students might be interested to engage in a discussion with you about their experiences and responses, while others might be more willing to engage in shorter conversation or even engage in an activity while talking. It’s also important to consider your student’s communication style.
Lastly, try to end on a positive note. Have them share something they’ve learned about themselves or identify one of their own strengths. Consider asking who they might ask for help if they needed it.
