Community Clean Up Day

dfsdfdf

A really BIG thank you to Emily and Stephanie who coordinated the Community Clean Up Day! This was the first time Bush Hill Elementary has done this and I'm so proud we were able to make this work!  We had between 10-15 volunteers, and a few non-garden club members too! We collected 5 bags of trash, pruned lots of bushes around the school, and made efforts to revitalize the pollinator garden with a bunch of new native plants (we planted more than 20 plus plants)! A big thank you to TJ for all his special tools and garden blueprint to help us really create a wonderful pollinator garden!

Attendance Matters

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow. We All Belong Here!

In FCPS, we all belong. From the first day of school, to the last day of school, every child matters. If your student is having a hard time finishing the year strong and attending school, please contact a trusted adult at our school — a teacher, counselor, or administrator. Visit FCPS’ website for more attendance resources

April 27th - Attendance Table: K-6

BHES's 2025-2026 Attendance Goal: 8% chronic absenteeism or less

Percentage of students NOT currently chronically absent

93.4%

Percentage of students currently chronically absent (missed 10% or more of the school days so far this year)

6.6%

HOW CAN YOU HELP YOUR CHILD/TEEN HAVE GOOD ATTENDANCE?

  • Don’t let your child stay home unless she is truly sick. Keep in mind complaints of a stomachache or headache can be a sign of anxiety and not a reason to stay home.
  • If your child seems anxious about going to school, talk to teachers, school counselors, or other parents for advice on how to make her feel comfortable and excited about learning.
  • Talk to teachers if you notice sudden changes in behavior. These could be tied to something going on at school.
  • Check on your child’s attendance to be sure absences are not piling up.
  • Ask for help from school officials, afterschool programs, other parents or community agencies if you’re having trouble getting your child to school
