We were proud to have FFA members from our Veterinary Science program represent Chantilly Academy last week at the FFA Regional competition for Veterinary Assisting. Students put their knowledge and hands-on training from the classroom on display during the competition. Competitors were evaluated on a wide range of skills including animal handling and restraint, sanitation and clinic safety procedures, medical terminology, and client communication. Students demonstrated their critical thinking skills as they completed practical scenarios similar to those encountered in veterinary clinics.
A special congratulations to Eli C., who earned 1st place overall in the competition for the second year in a row! We are incredibly proud of the entire team for representing our Veterinary Science program and FFA chapter. Many thanks to Mrs. Antonucci and Mrs. Spinetto for providing such great training and instruction to our students and accompanying them on this exciting competition!
Our Air Force JROTC unit recently held their annual Pass-in-Review where cadets earned 22 National Awards and over $5,000 in scholarships. They also celebrated their graduating seniors who have collectively earned $5.1 million in scholarships.
First year Dental Careers students learned how to perform TMJ assessments and extra-oral cancer screenings.
PT/OT level 2 students visited Marymount University this week to learn about their Doctor of Physical Therapy and Doctor of Occupational Therapy programs.
Our Cosmetology 2 students have been very busy preparing for their State Boards. Students will take the two-part exam (practical and theory) this month after two years of Cosmetology studies. We are wishing them the best as they complete their journey to becoming "PHDs" (Professional Hair Dressers)!
Medical Assistant students earned their Stop the Bleed certification this week. Stop the Bleed trains individuals to respond during traumatic bleeding emergencies using techniques such as pressure, packing and tourniquets.
