Atoms Weekly Recap

Baseball faced a challenging week, coming up short in three contests. Unfortunately, for the Atoms the name of the game was timely hits that they couldn't put together to get runs across the plate. The Atoms dropped a heartbreaker to district rival Justice, 4-2 Tuesday evening, in a tightly contested game. Thursday night was Autism Awareness Night that saw them fall to Fairfax Trinity, 18-3, before closing the week with another competitive effort against Falls Church but were unable to pull out the win, falling 5-1. The Atoms travel to Hayfield Tuesday.

Softball put together an explosive week at the plate, going 2-1 in a series of high-scoring matchups. The Atoms opened with a 20-7 win over Justice, then followed it up with a wild 37-26 victory against Meridian in an offensive showcase. Freshman KK Supple delivered the highlight of that game, blasting three home runs to power the effort. Annandale closed the week with a competitive battle against Falls Church but came up just short. Next up is a trip to Hayfield Tuesday evening.

Boys Lacrosse faced a tough matchup this week, falling to district power Hayfield 14-4 in their lone game. The Atoms battled throughout but were unable to overcome a strong Hayfield squad. Annandale will look to regroup and bounce back as they prepare for their next contest. The Atoms travel to Mt. Vernon Tuesday evening.

Girls Lacrosse had a tough week facing two district opponents that are at the top of the standing. First was a match up with Falls Church Tuesday evening that saw the Atoms fall to the Jaguars. Next was Hayfield and unfortunately the result was no different than Tuesday evening as the Hawks soared away with the win. The Atoms host Mt. Vernon Monday evening for Senior night.

Boys Soccer had a hard-fought week for the Atoms who battled through three competitive matchups. Annandale fell to Falls Church 3-0 on Monday, then bounced back with a determined effort on Thursday, earning a 1-1 draw against Manassas Park. The week concluded with a tough overtime loss to Hayfield, as the Atoms jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but ultimately fell 3-2 in OT. The Atoms travel to Mt. Vernon Tuesday.

The Atoms opened the week with a dominant 5-0 win over Falls Church on Monday, followed by another commanding performance on Thursday with a 4-0 victory against Manassas Park. On Friday evening, the Atoms faced Hayfield and battled throughout, ultimately falling 3-0. The Atoms host Mt. Vernon Tuesday evening for senior night.

Boys Tennis split its two matches this week, picking up a strong win before running into a tough opponent to close things out. On Tuesday, the Atoms defeated Lewis 7-2, showing depth and control across both singles and doubles play. However, on Friday, the Atoms battled hard but fell to state power TJ 8-1. The Atoms continue to work and get better and return to the court Tuesday for Senior Night vs Edison.

Girls Tennis split its two district matches this week with a dominant performance followed by a tough loss. On Tuesday, the Atoms cruised past Lewis with a 9-0 sweep, controlling every match in both singles and doubles. They returned to the court Friday but squared off against region power TJ, falling 9-0. The Atoms jump on the bus to serve it up with Edison on Tuesday.

Outdoor Track & Field delivered a strong showing at last week’s Patriot Invitational, highlighted by several standout performances and personal bests across the board. The boys 4x100 relay team turned in an impressive run, finishing just shy of qualifying for the Adidas Championships in a highly competitive field. On the girls side, the 4x800 relay team earned a 2nd place finish, In addition to the relay success, multiple Atoms athletes continued to record personal best times.
