A Message from the PTA President
Dear Hunt Valley Families,
Congratulations to Hunt Valley’s Science Olympiad team, whose competition was this past weekend! Our team members competed individually and in small groups in topics ranging from Data Investigations to Wind Power. There were many schools in attendance from all over Virginia, both public and private. Hunt Valley placed well overall as a team and even received several individual event recognitions, including a 1st place in the Pentathlon! This is the first year that Mrs. Lady and Mrs. Lawson fielded a team for the Olympiad and I’d say it was a smashing success! Thank you to these two teachers and the parent volunteers who helped out to allow our science-minded Hawks to shine. And thanks to those who have joined the PTA this year, as your dues are part of our funding for enrichment like the Science Olympiad entry fee, supplies, and team shirts. Our village is truly helping these students reach their full potential.

As we move into May, Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week and Spring Festival are quickly approaching. The PTA Hospitality Committee has built an amazing 90’s themed Teacher Appreciation Week event to celebrate our excellent Hunt Valley team. There will be a 90’s themed Spirit Week for students next week, as well! Don’t forget to look at the Teachers’ Favorites List on the PTA website, if you need any inspiration for a token of thanks for your student’s teacher.
Spring Festival tickets are now available for purchase! Please see the flyer below for more info. You can click here to purchase tickets at the PTA online store. Don’t forget to pre-purchase a LED scrunchie or foam glowstick for the end-of-event Glow Party! Please consider volunteering for an hour to make this event a success. Click here to volunteer!

I’ve heard someone recently call the current school phase as “May-cember” (an event packed time period with all the end-of-event parties you can handle) and I think we are all feeling this crunch! There are many activities between now and the end of the school year so let’s all stash an extra energy bar or two in the minivan and remember, we are all in this together!
As always, if you need anything, please reach out to President@huntvalleypta.org or info@huntvalleypta.org.
Sincerely,
Kacie Jones Hunt Valley PTA President
90s Spirit Week
Let’s celebrate our teachers and staff next week with a 90’s Spirit Week! We know you’re all that and a bag of chips, so break out your stonewashed denim or neon shirt and let’s get jiggy with it!

Teacher Appreciation Week - May 4 through 8
We are looking for a few more volunteers to assist with the set up, replenishment and/or clean up of each day’s events. Please email president@huntvalleypta.org if you are able to help. Please let us know what time of day/which day of the week you’re able to help.
Spring Festival - May 15th
MANY volunteers will be needed to smoothly run the biggest PTA event of the school year!

If you’re able to help, even for a short amount of time, but it doesn’t exactly fit into the listed time slots, email springfestival@huntvalleypta.org to let us know.

The Spelling Bee Chair plans, promotes and executes the annual Hunt Valley Scripps Spelling Bee.
