Mark your calendars for the biggest athletic showdown of the year! Katherine Johnson Middle School is thrilled to host our annual Athletic Fundraiser, and this year, the stakes are higher than ever. Come witness the elite talent of our KJMS Intramurals as they go head-to-head with our rivals, the Washington Irving Middle School Horsemen.

It’s a double-header you won’t want to miss! Grab your seat early to catch both action-packed matches:

6:30 PM: KJMS JV Eagles vs. Irving MS JV Horsemen

7:30 PM: KJMS Varsity Eagles vs. Irving MS Varsity Horsemen

🍕 Beyond the Court

We’re turning this game into a full-blown celebration to wrap up a fantastic year of KJMS Intramural Sports:

Food & Drinks: Skip dinner at home! Papa John’s Pizza, Skittles, Coca-Cola, and other refreshments will be available for purchase in the cafeteria.

Special Performance: Enjoy an exclusive halftime show featuring the high-energy moves of the KJMS K-Pop Club.

Admission: Only $5 at the door—all proceeds go directly toward supporting our athletic programs!

FHS Cheerleading Interest Meeting - Friday, May 1st

Interested in cheerleading at Fairfax High School?

Join Head Coach Nina Serafin and current Fairfax Cheerleading athletes to learn more about the program!

This meeting is open to current 7th and 8th grade girls and boys who would like to hear about future opportunities, tryouts, preseason, team life, and what it’s like to be part of Fairfax Cheer.

Whether you have prior cheer experience or are simply curious, all are welcome!

If you are interested in playing football at FHS, get a jump start by coming out and working with FHS football coaches at KJMS.  We will focus on agility, skill development and competition. 

  • Who: 7th/8th Grade Boys interested in playing football at FHS
  • Dates:  Tuesdays - 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19
  • Time: 2:30-4:00 (parent pickup by 4:45)

Old Glory DC Rugby Clinics at KJMS

Old Glory

Old Glory DC's professional rugby team is excited to have our coaches bring rugby to KJMS. 

This will give students the chance to try a fun, face paced sport in a safe and inclusive environment.

Tag rugby is a non contact version of rugby that helps develop teamwork, confidence, agility and communication skills, whilst having a great time. 

Whether students are completely new to rugby, or already love sports, this is a fantastic opportunity to get active, learn something new, and build lasting skills both on and off the field. 

  • Who: KJMS Students who want to learn about Rugby from DC’s Pro Team!
  • Dates:  Wednesday, 4/29
  • Time: 2:30-3:30 (late buses available at 4:45)

Academic Support After-School

Does your student need a hand with assignments? KJMS Learner’s Lab offers a quiet, productive space with teacher support right after school!

It’s the perfect spot to catch up, study, or get extra guidance in a focused environment.

Weekly Schedule (2:30-3:30):

  • Monday: Assessment Retakes & World Language Help
  • Wednesday: Core Content Support (Math Focus)
  • Thursday: Core Content Assistance

FHS Math Club Students will also be at KJMS to help students with Math from 3:30-4:30 on Wednesdays

  1. Complete the Parent Digital Consent - Last year, over 90% of KJMS Students stayed after-school - complete the Parent Digital Consent to give your student the option of staying after school
  2. Check out the KJMS Clubs-By-Day Calendar - See what clubs and activities will be offered - this calendar will be updated with club descriptions and signup links
  3. Check out the KJMS ASP Calendar - This is the most updated calendar with live updates
  4. Review the KJMS After-School FAQ Presentation with your student to better understand the how KJMS After-School works
  5. Stay Connected - KJMS After-School will regularly send out updates about upcoming clubs and signups through Schoology, News You Choose and Talking Points

If you are picking up your student during after-school hours, please make sure to pull up in front of Door 7.  You can either come to the door or text/call your student.

Parents who speak Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, or Vietnamese can call a telephone information line for general information about FCPS and to receive support if they are having difficulty communicating with their children's schools due to a language barrier.
