Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Now Available

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of March, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.

Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, reports were sent home by mail.

For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to your student's school counselor with any questions.

Seniors! Deadline to enter service learning in X2Vol is May 1

May 1 is the deadline for seniors to enter service learning experiences into x2Vol. This information was noted in the Senior Pre-Grad Survey and sent out to seniors via Schoology. Students are not required to complete service learning to meet graduation requirements. However, students who complete 40 or more service hours while in high school qualify to wear a FCPS Service Learning Cord at graduation. Additionally, some honor societies and diploma seals require service learning opportunities to be documented. Reach out to your student's school counselor with any questions.

Seniors! Pre-Grad Survey

All Seniors have been asked to complete the Pre Grad Survey between now and May 1st. This very short survey has been sent to seniors via email and will ensure we are recognizing seniors during our graduation programs. If you are the parent of a senior, please remind your student to complete the survey as soon as possible!

Additionally, seniors will complete the FCPS Senior Survey during our first mandatory graduation practice on June 4th. In this final survey your student will confirm their post McLean HS plans and tell us where to send their final transcript.

Parent Volunteers Needed

Parents/Guardians! We are looking for your assistance to support morning duties during our AP exam season (May 4-May 22). To ensure all necessary school staff are available to support the implementation of morning AP exams, we are requesting assistance from parents/guardians to support our morning school routines from 7:30-8:10. More information and the survey to respond can be found HERE.

If you have questions on this commitment, please contact Jenna Jablonski (jmjablonski@fcps.edu), our Director of Student Services.

Required Immunizations for Rising 12th Graders

The following immunizations are required for students entering 12th grade each school year.

All students entering 12th grade are to receive two doses of the Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) prior to the beginning of school. To meet the MenACWY 12th grade requirement, one dose must be administered at age 16 or older.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with your child’s health care provider now to avoid the rush this summer. Please consider getting your child’s immunizations early so that they can attend school in the fall. Summer is a busy time for families and healthcare providers. As long as your child meets the age requirements listed above, they can be immunized at any time.

Immunization Events for FCPS Students

FCPS, in partnership with Inspire Health Alliance, will provide school-required immunizations and optional flu shots for all FCPS students at no out-of-pocket cost. Multiple events will take place at designated FCPS locations.

Dates will be made available throughout the school year. Parents or guardians may view upcoming events and schedule an appointment for their student. Participation is voluntary. Additional immunization resources are also available.
