Math SOL  (Grades 3, 4, 5, 6)  - Tuesday, May 12th
Science SOL (Grade 5) - Thursday, May 14th

FCPS encourages all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires schools to test at least 95% of students on SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately.

Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season.

🥳Staff Appreciation Week🥳

Next week is Staff Appreciation Week! The PTA and the school have combined efforts to celebrate staff with a special surprise each day. We can't wait to shower our staff in appreciation!

Families and students are welcome to show additional appreciation to staff in any way they choose! Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing educators!

Skyview High School and Western Pyramids Boundary Study

There will be two  community meetings this week regarding the Skyview High School and Western Pyramids Boundary Study. At the meetings, FCPS will share initial draft scenarios and gather your feedback. You may join in person at Skyview High School or virtually via Zoom.  Some of the scenarios would affect the elementary and middle school boundaries that currently pertain to Oak Hill students.  Please consider attending or putting comments in the Boundary Explorer tool

To register to attend a meeting, please click “in person” or “virtual” based on your preference:

The same information will be shared at both meetings. Community feedback from the meetings and the Skyview/Western Pyramids Boundary Explorer Tool will help inform the development of one or more revised scenarios.

In May, revised scenarios will be presented during a second round of community meetings, which will also be held in person at Skyview and virtually via Zoom. To register, please click “in person” or “virtual” based on your preference:

Lost and Found- Please Check

Items left after April 30th will be donated.

Please check to make sure your child's winter jackets are in your closets and not in our lost and found!  Our lost and found is overflowing with winter jackets and LOTS of sweatshirts!  Items that remain after school on April 30th will be donated.  This picture is current as of 10:00 on Wednesday.

We do check for names before we donate, so please consider putting your child's name or initials on an inside label of their sweatshirts and jackets.  We donate many articles of clothing each year because they are not labeled.

Bake For Good 2026

Students in Grades 4-6 participated in a Bake For Good event recently! They learned how to make bread in an assembly with King Arthurs Baking Company and then got to put their new skills to work for good.  Each student took home flour, a scraper, yeast, and a recipe booklet.  Students created all kinds of goodies- bread, muffins, pizza etc..and kept one item for their family and gave away the other as an act of kindness!  On Monday we collected 60 loaves of bread which were donated to a local food pantry!  Other students gave their bread item to a neighbor, friend, teacher or family member.  We loved helping our community and being Ethical and Global Citizens!

Thanks to everyone who participated. We look forward to continuing this tradition at Oak Hill so all students get the opportunity.

Summer Book Exchange

The school book exchange is a fun way for students to share and discover new books. Each child can bring up to 15 gently used books and then choose the same number of books from the exchange to take home. It encourages reading, recycling, and the excitement of finding something new to enjoy.

When: June 2nd (Grades 4–6), June 3rd (Grades Pre-K–3)

Your child can drop off books in dedicated bins starting May 11th. Book Exchange bins are located in the lobby & inside Door 4 at Kiss n’ Ride. After dropping off the books, your child should take one paper receipt and write down the total number of books donated (up to 15). They can give the receipt to their teacher to keep until the book exchange. At the book exchange, your child can select the same number of books as previously donated.

We need parent volunteers! Sign up here to help make the book exchange a success.

Contact Kim Novak (kmsnovak@gmail.com) or Kim Harrell (kimskharrell@gmail.com) with questions.
