Good afternoon Newington Forest Families,
It was a great week in the Forest!
- Saturday - Some of our Knights participated in All County Chorus at Lake Braddock Secondary School. It's always a pleasure to be in the audience for this event. Thank you to Mrs. Gordon and Mx. Bosley for preparing our students for this big day.
- Monday - 6th graders visited South County Middle School
- Wednesday - 2nd grade Earth Day Concert. Great job 2nd grade! Thank you again, Mrs. Gordon and Mx. Bosley. "Woe is me."
- Thursday - Parent Workshop: Helping Kids Handle Big Emotions. Thank you to Mrs. Howard, Family Liaison, and Ms. Traci Jamison, Social Worker, for putting together this workshop for our NFES parents. The presentation was excellent and informative.
- Friday - SOL Pep Rally - Thank you to Mrs. Pipitone for organizing today's fun Pep Rally and getting everyone's mindset ready for the SOLs! Here is the link to the staff video, in case your kids want to watch it again - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra4nTwq4Il0.
A quick reminder - SOLs begin next week. Please see the schedule below to see all of the dates, grades, and subjects in advance.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Angela Thompson Principal

PTA Superhero Fun Run Recap
Our PTA shared some stats from the Fun Run and they're impressive!
Thanks to your generosity and support, we raised an amazing $8,837!! 🎉 Because of this, we reached two school-wide goals:
- 🥧 7 people got pied in the face on Friday (always a crowd favorite!)
- 🎡 Spring Fling will be FREE for everyone (concessions will still be available for purchase)
Also!
Our Office of the Ombuds Is at Your Service!
Ombuds staff engage with FCPS staff, families, and students to offer resources and improve the experience of each and every member of the FCPS community. They work as an independent confidential resource to help get answers to questions, resolve concerns, and hear complaints regarding FCPS matters.
Ombuds staff do not make or change decisions, policies, or regulations. They do not take sides, and they do not provide legal advice.
Anyone with concerns, questions, or complaints to share with the Office of the Ombuds may call 571-423-4014, email ombuds@fcps.edu, or visit their webpage, where you may submit a question.
FCPS Cares is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story so we can all acknowledge the good work of our Newington Forest staff members. |
