Dear Hayfield Community -
As we move into the 4th quarter, we want to emphasize the importance of students arriving to school and class on time each day. Consistent attendance and punctuality play a key role in student success, and we appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. Our first SOL assessment in reading begins next week, and we encourage students to take advantage of all available resources to prepare. With your support, we know our students will be ready to do their very best. This evening the middle school will host the annual Kingstowne Cup where our middle school basketball teams will play cross town rivals at Twain Middle School. The girl’s game starts at 5:45 and the boy's game starts at 7:15. Come join us at the Hawks Nest!

🗨️DiBari's Dispatch
Hey Hayfield Family–
It was another great week here at Hayfield! This week there seemed to be a focus on service to the community. As you’ll see below, our incredible JROTC program helped facilitate a Military Family Field Day at Annandale High School. Additionally, we began a peer tutoring program between our High School students and Lane Elementary students. This program was entirely initiated and created by one of our seniors (and supported by a staff sponsor), and already had great attendance. Lastly, our environmental club traveled over to Hayfield Elementary to help clean up some of their outdoor spaces. Being a strong, contributing member of the community is important here at Hayfield, and it’s great to see that in action. Please encourage your students to get engaged in these (and other) great organizations!
I wish you all a fantastic upcoming week. If you ever have any questions, thoughts, or feedback, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at asdibari@fcps.edu.
Go Hawks!
Tony DiBari

Thank you Librarians!
This week, we celebrate Librarian Appreciation Week and recognize the incredible impact our librarians have on our school community. They go above and beyond to create engaging activities for classes, foster a love of reading, and ensure that books and resources are accessible to all students. Their work helps make learning both meaningful and enjoyable every day. We are grateful for their dedication and the welcoming spaces they create for our students!
After-School Specialist Appreciation: Thank you, Coach Abella
We would like to extend our appreciation to Coach Abella for his outstanding leadership of our after-school program. His dedication helps provide a wide variety of engaging activities that keep students active, connected, and supported beyond the school day. The program continues to be a great opportunity for students to explore interests and build relationships. We encourage all students to take advantage of these offerings and continue participating!

Word of the Work
This week’s Word of the Week Champ is Zahra Shaghasi!
Zahra used the word dubious in the following sentence:
“I was dubious about my first plane flight.”
Great job, Zahra!

Environmental Club Partners with Hayfield Elementary
To celebrate Earth Day, our Environmental Club partnered with Hayfield Elementary School on a campus enhancement project that refreshed and improved the shared outdoor space. Under the leadership of club sponsors Lindsay Kibben and Kris Long, students worked collaboratively to make a meaningful impact in our community. It was a wonderful opportunity to build connections, and the elementary students especially enjoyed spending time with the “big kids.” A special thank you to Mr. DiBari for joining in and lending a hand!

ℹ️Important Information
Kiss and Ride, Door 9
We have recently seen an increase in parents and students parking in the back lot near Door 9. Please be reminded that students are only permitted to park in their assigned spaces in the front of the building. Families using kiss-and-ride may utilize the band parking lot (near the basketball courts) to park and wait for doors to open. We ask that you do not park in staff-designated spaces or in the kiss-and-ride lane to help ensure a safe and efficient arrival process for all.
Important Reminder: Animal Policy on School Grounds
To ensure the safety, health, and comfort of all our students, staff, and visitors, we would like to remind the community of our policy regarding animals on campus.
Pets and personal animals are not permitted on school property at any time—this includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Because our fields and facilities are used year-round by both school teams and community use groups, it is vital that our grounds remain clean and safe. Please note that pets are restricted from:
-
Arrival and Dismissal: Please do not bring dogs or other pets when dropping off or picking up students.
-
Athletic Events: Pets are not allowed in the stands or on the sidelines during games.
-
Community Use & Off-Hours: Pets are not permitted on fields or playgrounds even when school is not in session.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all members of our community! For more information please refer to FCPS Regulation 2125.
