Principals' Message

Hello White Oaks Community,

We hope to see a great turnout tonight to support our sixth graders at the students versus staff basketball game! This should be a positive event filled with fun and community building.

Wednesday was Administrative Professionals Day, and we are lucky to have five fabulous individuals to celebrate at White Oaks. Mrs. Martinos, Ms. Buffington, Mrs. Onks, Ms. Comfort, and Ms. Carrasco give their best every day to support our school, staff, families, and students. Their dedication, flexibility, and caring nature make White Oaks an amazing school.

Last Saturday, we had seven of our sixth-grade students perform in the Fairfax County All-County Chorus concert. We are grateful to Ms. Gridneva for supporting our students during this amazing opportunity.

As we shared last week, we celebrated our military-connected students during the Purple Up breakfast. During that time, we shared a very heartwarming video providing our military-connected students a chance to tell their story in their own words. It is a powerful reminder of the unique perspectives and strengths within our student body. Thank you to Mrs. Orr for her efforts toward making the video. We encourage you to take a few minutes and view the Purple Up video and the message our students have to share.

Have a great weekend!

Melanie, Neena, & Josh

It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Please note that the White Oaks Kindergarten Orientation is being rescheduled for May 13th.

Kindergarten helps children learn and practice the social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives.

Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events, including orientation, in the spring. Eligible children can be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

If your child will attend our school, please gather necessary documents and complete registration forms as soon as possible.

FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, please visit the FCPS Registration webpage.

PTA President and Vice President of Fundraising Still Needed!

We still do not have a candidate for the President or Vice President of Fundraising positions for next school year. We cannot operate as a PTA without a President. I encourage you to think about the positions, encourage people you know who may excel in either position, and reach out with any questions, concerns, or hesitations you have. If you're thinking about either position, please let us know. You're welcome to join us for our meeting on Monday, April 20 so you can have a "sneak peek" into what those monthly meetings entail and how we collaborate together. For more information please email wopta.nominations@gmail.com

Five Guys Spirit Night! 🍔🍟

Support our 6th graders while enjoying a delicious meal! Whether you’re a fan of their famous burgers or just there for the fries and milkshakes, your dinner choice makes a real difference.

The Details

  • When: Tuesday, April 28th
  • Time: 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Where: Five Guys | 5761 Burke Centre Parkway

How to Participate

  • You can support the fundraiser whether you're eating on the go or sitting down with the family:
  • Dine-In: Enjoy your meal at the restaurant.
  • Carryout: Grab your burgers and fries to go!
  • Note: Be sure to mention the fundraiser at the register to ensure the 6th grade receives credit for your purchase.

Why It Matters
