Paw Prints: Updates from Dr. Grove
day of service

Dear Wolftrap Families,

Read allll the way to the end! Lots of good info this week!!! Our FIRST Annual Spring Day of Service was AMAZING! I’m so proud of the work we all did, contributing to make the world a better place. 🙂I will be sharing more when we get our photo montage put together, but THANK YOU for all you did to support us. We could not have done it without you!

In the Madison Pyramid, we believe our schools and neighborhood are "Our Shared Home." This day moves learning beyond the classroom, helping students grow as Ethical and Global Citizens. Through hands-on service, students will learn that they have the power to strengthen their community through intentional, compassionate action.

🐺🐺THANK YOU to everyone who helped+contributed to+ran in the PAJAMA 5K. I hear through the grape vine that there is some sliming to do... I can promise, that will be the highlight of the news show one day this week!!! 🥈👟🥈 😁

🎨🎨Congratulations to students who were selected for the Madison Pyramid Art Show! We are going to display the board in the front hallway later this week. Stop by, if you did not get to visit Madison! They will be on display by Thursday, April 23rd, and we will leave them up until April 30th.

The Spring SEL Screener window for students in grades 3-12 is now closed. You may remember that the SEL Screener is an online student reported survey of students in grades 3-12. Students share their perspectives on how well their school and community help them develop skills they need to succeed. Parent/guardian reports will be available to families in SIS ParentVUE this week of April 20, 2026. If you need to know how to look up the screener and the results, please let us know in the office.

Reminder: class placement form is open until April 29th. To share your input, please complete the 2026-2027 Class Placement Form. The form will remain active until Wednesday, April 29th at 5:00 PM.

Discipline Recording Process Updates: As we continue through the 2025-26 school year, please be aware of a mid-year update regarding how student behavior incidents are recorded and communicated. To enhance transparency and our ongoing partnership with families, Wolftrap will be implementing a shift in practice that will be followed consistently going forward.

What is Changing? Going forward, all discipline incidents that are considered disciplinable per the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) will be recorded in the Student Information System (SIS). Once an incident is logged in SIS, it will be visible to families through their SIS ParentVUE account. This is a shift from previous practices and is designed to ensure families have direct access to their child’s records.

What You Can Expect to See To support understanding of  the information recorded in SIS ParentVUE, please keep the following process details in mind:

  • SBAR Coding: Incidents are documented using Student Behavior and Administrative Response (SBAR) codes, which categorize behaviors into groups such as "Behaviors that Impede Academic Progress" (BAP) or "Relationship Behaviors" (RB).
  • Required Interventions: A key component of this update is that every disciplinary incident must include a behavior intervention. These interventions are designed to re-teach and reinforce positive school expectations.
  • Leveled Responses: Administrators use a discipline matrix to determine the appropriate response, ranging from Level 1 (least restrictive) to Level 5 (most restrictive). For our students, these responses are tailored using specific "K-6" starting points.
  • Timely Communication: While these records are now visible in SIS, our commitment to personal communication remains. Administrators and teachers will still notify families of a disciplinary incident involving their child.

We believe this shift supports our mission to provide a responsive, caring, and inclusive culture where every child feels valued and supported. You can find more information about these categories and the full discipline matrix in the 2025-26 SR&R Family Guide. If you have any questions about this update or how to view these records in SIS ParentVUE, please do not hesitate to contact Megan Tipton, Assistant Principal.

Spring Testing Reminders: As a reminder, please mark your calendars for the following Spring testing dates. Reach out to your child’s teacher for specific test dates. We ask that you make every effort for students to be at school on test days to ensure they are able to complete them within the testing window. This is especially important in Grades 3-6 for SOLs. If you have specific questions regarding testing, please contact Megan Tipton, Assistant Principal + School Test Coordinator.

The last day for student registration appointments will be Friday, May 8, and the last day for early childhood testing appointments will be Friday, May 15. We are committed to maintaining access to these important services and appreciate your flexibility during this transition. All services will reopen at Pimmit Hills Center beginning Monday, June 1.
