This week we enjoyed 5 full days with students, field trips, military recognitions, All County Chorus Festival, the Marshall Pyramid Art Show, PTA Spring Fair, and Solo and Ensemble Festival for band. Thank you for enthusiastic parent participation, volunteering, and chaperoning!
Our third graders visited the American History Museum while our fifth graders took charter buses to Luray Caverns. Students in grades 3 - 6 have gotten on the bikes and are showing off their skills already! Our office staff held a breakfast to thank and recognize many of our amazing volunteers that make Lemon Road a special place - even if you could not attend, we appreciate you!
On Saturday, two special events were held for our student muscians. Sixth graders that participated in All County Chorus were Adelynn Yip, Brooklyn Castillo, Lesley Chang, Skye Ronaldson, Arjun Deevi, Claire Sibre, Mila Valera, and Lexi Burke. Students that participated in the Solo and Ensemble Festival were Asher Cahn, Ruby Senior, Kavni Patel, Violet Rafferty, Lily Hsu, Aarti Pathak, and Alex Doble.
Next week we have a holiday on Tuesday for voting and finish with our April Freaky Friday - Camping Day. Thank you to our room parents for organizing treats for April birthdays on Friday.

Students will be participating in spring assessments based on their grade level and courses. This includes summative assessments like Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, which measure what a student knows, and progress assessments like Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests, which measure where they are in their learning.
FCPS encourages all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires schools to test at least 95% of students on SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately.
Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season. It is important that students attend school on scheduled testing dates. If you are aware of a conflict that may cause your student to miss a test, please notify us as soon as possible.
Below is the schedule for the spring SOL tests at Lemon Road:
-
Tuesday, May 12: Grade 5 Reading SOL
-
Friday, May 15: Grades 3, 4 & 6 Reading SOL; Grade 5 Science SOL
-
