Centreville Students, Families, and Community,
This past Friday, I had the pleasure of attending opening night of our spring play, and I want to extend a heartfelt bravo to the cast and crew of the Centreville Theatre Company for their incredible performance of The Play That Goes Wrong. It was a truly delightful show, and the months of hard work, dedication, and collaboration were evident in every moment on stage. A special thank you to our Theatre Director, Mr. McGee, for his outstanding leadership and commitment to our students. I would also like to thank Dr. Reid for joining us on opening night, her support of the Centreville Theatre program means a great deal to our community.
This week, we are excited to celebrate Wellness Week, a time dedicated to helping our students and staff relax, connect, and recharge as we prepare for the upcoming weeks of testing. There are a variety of activities planned throughout the week for students to enjoy. In addition, we will have spirit days throughout the week to continue building community and school pride. A special highlight will be our Wellness Fair on Friday, April 24, when students will participate in a choice activity during ROAR designed to help them decompress and recharge. Thank you to our Student Services team and SGA for organizing such thoughtful and engaging opportunities for our school community.
We will wrap up the week with one of the most anticipated events of the year, our Junior/Senior Prom! Prom will be held on Saturday at Union Stage at The Wharf from 7:00–10:00 PM. Tickets are on sale during lunch all week, and we encourage all juniors and seniors to attend this unforgettable evening. The night will feature appetizers, an ice cream truck, giveaways every half hour, a photo booth, games, a DJ, and plenty of opportunities to make lasting memories. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a truly Monumental Night!
Thank you for your continued support in making Centreville High School such a vibrant, connected, and caring community.
Go Wildcats!

Centreville Model UN Earns Top Honors at Regional Conferences: We are incredibly proud to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of the Centreville High School Model United Nations (Model UN) Team. Our students earned Outstanding Small Delegation at VIMUNC XIV (hosted by Langley High School) and Best Small Delegation at TECHMUN XXXIII (hosted by Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology). These prestigious awards are among the highest honors given at Model UN conferences and recognize the overall performance of a school’s delegation across multiple committees. Earning distinction as a “Small Delegation” is particularly meaningful, as it highlights the team’s ability to compete at the highest level with a smaller group of students, demonstrating exceptional preparation, depth of knowledge, teamwork, and leadership. These honors reflect not only the academic excellence of our students, but also their commitment to global awareness, civil discourse, and thoughtful advocacy.
Girls Soccer Senior Night Celebration: We proudly celebrated our Girls’ Soccer seniors as they were honored for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to Centreville High School. These student-athletes have not only excelled on the pitch, but have also served as outstanding role models in our school community through their character, teamwork, and perseverance. Their leadership has helped shape the program and inspire younger players. We congratulate our seniors and their families on this special milestone and extend our sincere thanks to our coaches for their guidance and support.

The group also enjoyed an incredible live show at the legendary Grand Ole Opry and capped off the trip with a fun-filled day at Dollywood. This experience allowed students to make meaningful connections across musical genres while also creating lasting memories and strengthening their bonds as a team.

April Statewide Election: No School for Students: There will be no school for students on Tuesday, April 21, for the Virginia statewide election. Student activities, athletic practices, and events may proceed as scheduled. FCPS will offer lunch and a snack at no cost to children aged 18 and under on April 21 at participating schools. The meals must be eaten on site. For more information, visit the FCPS Food and Nutrition Services webpage.
Updates to 2026-27 School Year Calendar: The School Board voted to direct the superintendent to designate Veterans Day as a standard instructional day for the 2026-27 school year. Because this day was added, the 2026-27 school year will now end for students on Wednesday, June 16, 2027. Find additional information on BoardDocs. View the updated complete school year calendar on FCPS’ website. The last day of school for the current school year — Wednesday, June 17, 2026 — has not changed.
Support Your Children During Important Spring Assessments: Students will be participating in spring assessments based on their grade level and courses. This includes summative assessments like Standards of Learning (SOL) tests, which measure what a student knows, and progress assessments like Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests, which measure where they are in their learning.
FCPS encourages all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires schools to test at least 95% of students on SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately. Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season.
It is important that students attend school on scheduled testing dates. If you are aware of a conflict that may cause your student to miss a test, please notify us as soon as possible. Learn more about how to support your child and why test participation matters.
Help FCPS Sustain Excellence: Make Your Voice Heard on the FY 2027 BudgetAbout 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. There are several upcoming opportunities to provide feedback to the county on its budget before final adoption in May. This includes public budget hearings (April 14-16) and an online survey. Learn how the FCPS budget helps us sustain our excellence.
Community Conversations: Share Your Thoughts With Dr. Reid: As a listening leader, connecting with community members across our school division is critical to FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Her Community Conversations are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted) on:
Child care and interpretation services will be provided. Events are open to all. Visit the superintendent’s engagement page for the most up-to-date information.
Start an Unskippable Conversation With Your Teen: When was the last time you talked to your teen about fentanyl and overdose? Learn how to start an Unskippable conversation, and find resources to share with your teen on how to spot an overdose and how to respond.
