Bailey’s Primary & Upper Assistant Principals showing their Purple Up pride -head to toe in support of our military-connected students!
Happy Sunday, Bailey’s families!
It is hard to believe we are already halfway through April! We had such an exciting week last week, starting with our first graders opening their Museum of Plants and Animals of Virginia. Our students visited throughout the week, and we had a wonderful turnout for our family night on Thursday. The displays were full of evidence of learning and were truly interactive for all to enjoy. A huge shout-out goes to our first-grade teachers and students, as well as the families and staff who supported this success—we know our students can demonstrate their learning in so many creative ways!
We also hosted our Family Science Night, which was packed with fun STEAM activities for our students. Thank you to all the families who came out to share in that experience. As we look ahead, we are already entering the windows for our important end-of-year assessments. These are great opportunities for students to show just how much they’ve grown at Bailey’s this year! To help them do their best, please ensure your child is attending school every day and getting plenty of restful sleep. We truly appreciate the support of our families in making this a priority.
Lastly, please keep in mind that there is no school for students this upcoming Tuesday, April 21, due to the special election. However, we are looking forward to seeing our students tomorrow and then again Wednesday through Friday. Let’s make every day count!

So proud to welcome back one of our former students—now a U.S. Marine—who returned to personally thank our incredible Family Liaisons, Ms. Maria Demarest and Ms. Laura Doughty, for their unwavering support. Moments like these remind us that the impact of care and connection lasts a lifetime.
Students will now have a traditional full day of instruction and be released at the regular dismissal time on April 22 and April 29, which were previously early release Wednesdays for elementary schools.
This adjustment allows our staff to still have dedicated time for planning, collaboration, and professional learning without reducing instructional time on other school days.
