April Statewide Election: No School for Students
There will be no school for students on Tuesday, April 21, for the Virginia statewide election. Student activities, athletic practices, and events may proceed as scheduled.
Fairfax County Public Schools will still exceed the required number of instructional hours for students, as set by the Virginia Department of Education.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports the Frost Middle School community. Our PTA thrives on your involvement, but we are currently facing an urgent need for volunteer leaders to spearhead several upcoming milestone events.
Without parent leads, we may be unable to host the following traditions:
Don't worry—you won't be doing it alone! The PTA Board provides full support, established templates, and past plans to ensure these roles are manageable and rewarding. Whether you want to lead or co-lead with a friend, your help is vital to making these events happen for our students and staff.

Frost MS is excited to host the annual 7th Grade Social on Tuesday, April 28th from 2:30 - 4:30. There will be a DJ, dancing, pizza, soda and a photo booth!
7th Graders can buy tickets before school every day next week. Tickets are also available for sale through MySchoolBucks until Friday, April 24th. Tickets are $5.00.

Required Immunizations for Rising 7th Graders
As required by the Code of VA, parents or legal guardians need to provide proof of immunizations for their child to attend at a Virginia public school.
In addition, all students entering 7th grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations:
- Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older;
- Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older;
- A complete series of 2 doses of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parents or guardians sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with your child’s healthcare provider now to avoid the rush this summer. Immunization appointments are available. Inspire Health Alliance will be providing immunizations for currently enrolled FCPS students at no out-of-pocket cost.  Special Education Family Conference: Registration Open, Volunteers Needed
The 2026 Special Education Family Conference, Stronger Together: Connecting Families and Schools, will take place on Saturday, April 18, at Marshall High School. During this no-cost, in-person event, families will have the opportunity to hear a keynote address from internationally renowned educator and advocate, Dr. Shelley Moore, connect to resources and other families, and participate in afternoon sessions.

22nd Annual Techstravaganza
Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 10 AM to 4 PM
TJHSST
Techstravaganza is a free, public, hands-on STEM activity fair for elementary and middle school students in Northern Virginia. In previous years, we've hosted more than 4,500 students and 70 labs presenting STEM activities. Our exhibitors range from TJHSST clubs and our own TWIST volunteers to organizations like NASA SCaN, Art of Problem Solving, George Mason University, American Society of Naval Engineers, and the National Air and Space Museum.

The next Red Bag Event April 25th!
Have you noticed those red bags around the neighborhood? We are partnering with Food For Neighbors to collect weekend food for middle and high school students in Northern Virginia who struggle with hunger.

How it Works: Five times a year, donors fill a "Red Bag" with food from a specific list. Drivers pick them up, and volunteers help sort and deliver the food directly to local schools.

FCPS ACE Adult English Classes -
Spring Semester Enrollment Open
(Upcoming) Adults in our community can enroll in comprehensive ESOL classes through FCPS Adult and Community Education. Classes are offered at multiple proficiency levels with morning and evening options at locations across the county. Tuition is significantly lower than most college or private language programs.

Virginia Energy Assistance Program (DSS)
Eligible households may receive help with heating, cooling, or energy emergencies through Fuel, Crisis, and Cooling Assistance programs. Support can include help paying utility bills, heating fuel, deposits, or repairing/replacing heating or cooling equipment. Applications are accepted online via CommonHelp, by phone, or through local DSS offices during program-specific application periods. Benefits are based on availability of funds.

Neighborhood Health and Healthworks- Effective January 1, 2023, the Fairfax County Health Department Dental Program transferred to the Community Health Centers serving Fairfax County: Neighborhood Health and HealthWorks. Individuals seeking dental services should contact the Community Health Center nearest them.

Northern Virginia Family Services
NVFS Training Futures is a 12-week program that helps adults gain in-demand digital and office support skills, earn a professional certificate, and receive hands-on support with resumes, interviewing, and networking. ECHO (Ecumenical Community Helping Others)
ECHO provides clothing, food, grade-appropriate school supplies packaged in backpacks, household items, computers and financial assistance to families that live in Burke and the greater Springfield area. Healthy Minds Fairfax offers short-term behavioral health services for children and youth who live in Fairfax County. Frost Middle School distributes weekend food bags containing nonperishable snack items to students in need on Friday afternoons. Resources for Families of Students with Disabilities
SEPTA, the Fairfax County Special Education Parent Teacher Association, was created to empower and connect families, students, and educators to ensure students with disabilities develop their full potential as individuals and community members. Learn more or become a member on the SEPTA website.
The Advisory Committee for Students with Disabilities (ACSD) is a state mandated Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). Parents/guardians, students, teachers, administrators, staff, and others interested in special education at FCPS are welcome and encouraged to share their thoughts, ideas, and/or public comment related to the unmet needs of students with disabilities.
FCPS’ Office of Special Education Procedural Support provides guidance to staff, families, and students in areas related to the implementation of and compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, as amended.
Families of students in special education programs can find more resources in the Special Education Handbook for Parents. (Translations are available from the Parent Resource Center (PRC).)
The PRC offers free webinars, consultations, a lending library, and resources to help adults support the success of all students, including those with learning challenges, special needs, and disabilities. Their YouTube channel includes videos of workshops and webinars for families and educators to support student success. Kathy Murphy, the assistant ombuds for special education, provides information and support to parents/caregivers and students regarding special education and Section 504 services. Staff in the Office of the Ombuds believe that by being transparent and connecting families with available supports and services, children with special needs can equitably access public education.
