Good evening! Lemon Road had a short, but wonderful week at school. We celebrated elementary book end events - welcoming our newest students & families to Kindergarten Orientation and visiting Longfellow Middle School with several of our 6th graders who plan to attend next year!
We are fully into spring and the final quarter of the school year. Help your child stay on top of their assignments, bedtimes, and studying. Be sure to check their Wednesday folder weekly and read communication from teachers so you don't miss anything.
In April, we celebrate our amazing volunteers who help ensure our students, teachers, and staff are supported throughout the year. We invite all our volunteers to our Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast in the library on Thursday, April 16 beginning at 8:15. Be sure to download the Raptor Safe App to make your check in process in the office easy. Email Ms. Olsavsky to let her know you are able to make it at enolsavsky@fcps.edu. This includes field trip chaperones, room parents, PTA board members, classroom volunteers, Wednesday folder helpers, etc.!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and we look forward to seeing your child for 5 full days of school this week and the Spring Fair on Saturday!
Be sure to your your child a yearbook. LRES Yearbooks are on sale through Monday, April 13. They cost $20 and families can pay on MySchoolBucks (select School Store, Yearbook), a credit card using this link (code 26164), or with cash/check written out to Lemon Road Elementary.
 Hello Lemon Road Families,
Students in grades 3 - 6 will be starting their bike riding unit in PE on Monday April 13th and end on May 1st. Our teachers, Mr. Hickman & Mr. Van Trees take precautions to make sure your children are safe during their ride, including wearing hairnets, helmets, and teach proper bike safety. Please ensure your children do not wear long dresses or baggy clothing on PE days for the next month as they can get caught in bike chains. Having a properly fitted helmet is important so students with long hair are asked to wear it so that a helmet can fit over it properly (for example, a low ponytail). Students may bring their own helmets and/or bicycles. If your child would like to use their own bike during their PE, they may ride it to school and lock it on the bike rack next to DOOR 6 or in the front of the school near the flagpole. All bikes on bike racks will also be under camera surveillance. If there is no room on either bike rack, you can lock them up to the fence closest to the bike rack in the back of the school.
This is a really fun unit and we appreciate you helping your child have the most success possible!
