Dear Woodburn Families,

We would like to take a moment to celebrate and recognize a few important highlights this month. Please join us in wishing a very Happy Assistant Principal Appreciation to Ms. Dauberman. Her care, dedication, and strong relationships with students, staff, and families are a big part of what makes Woodburn such a special place.

April is also Librarian Appreciation Month. We are grateful to Ms. Lockwood for her ongoing efforts to ensure all students have access to engaging books, as well as for bringing in authors and creating meaningful, fun learning experiences for our school community.

As a reminder, our Bingo and Silent Auction Night is coming up next week—we hope to see many of you there for this exciting event.

We are also entering an important time of year as we prepare for SOLs and other end-of-year assessments. Please help support your child by ensuring they get a good night’s rest, arrive at school on time, and avoid absences whenever possible. If anything arises, we encourage you to communicate directly with your child’s teacher.

Finally, as we welcome warmer spring weather, please remember that temperatures can shift throughout the day. Sending your child with layers will help ensure they remain comfortable.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

  3. Gather documents.
  4. Fill out forms.
  5. Schedule an appointment (the student and one caregiver must be present).

Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Questionnaire

We Want Your Feedback!

On Monday, April 6, parents and guardians of Woodburn ES received an email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and provides an opportunity to share anonymous feedback about our school’s leadership and environment.

Topics covered in the survey include:

✅ Instructional leadership

✅ School climate

✅ Management (human resources and organizational)

✅ Communication and community relations

✅ Culturally responsive and equitable leadership

✅ Professionalism

The questionnaire will be open April 6 - April 19 and will be collected online. When you receive the email from noreply@fcps.edu, please take a few minutes to complete it. Your input is valuable and helps shape the future of our school. Thank you for your time and feedback!

Attendance: Did you know?

This week kicks off our attendance initiative "Sprinting through Spring." Did you know regular attendance is crucial for the academic success of all students? Studies have proven that students with better attendance records perform better in school and are more likely to graduate high school on time! Attending school, even if your student arrives late, is valuable to support their success.

April 15 - Purple Up Day!

To show our support for all our military-connected families, we are inviting all Fairfax County students, families, staff, and community members to “Purple Up!” on Wednesday, April 15, for military children.

Why purple? Purple symbolizes all branches of the military as a combination of Army green, Marine Corps red, and the blue of the Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, and Space Force
