Principal's Message

Hello Bruin Community!

It was wonderful to see everyone back in the building after Spring Break! I hope you had a chance to visit our Pyramid Art Show on Wednesday ... it is amazing to see the talent of all our students.

We are in the final quarter of this school year and can feel the energy as we move toward Graduation. Please feel free to reach out to your child's teachers, counselors, or assistant principals if you have any concerns or joys to share. We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate.

Go Bruins!

Lindsey Kearns

SGA's Mental Health Campaign is hosting its first ever art competition! Submissions of mental health related art are due May 1st and three submissions will receive up to $100 in a gift card prize. In a world of more than 8 billion people, over 1 billion are impacted by mental illness. Mental illness means many different things to different people, and it is important that we as future leaders are understanding of other people’s unique experiences. As more and more people become impacted by mental health struggles, it is crucial to acknowledge and support the people around us. Resources are becoming more available around the world but still approximately 1 in 7 people will struggle with mental illness throughout their lifetime. The ideas surrounding mental illness create a stigma that discourages people from sharing their stories. This competition is an opportunity to learn more about mental illness and create a work of art that represents what it means to you.

Congratulations to the Lake Braddock Symphony Orchestra for being accepted to perform at the 2026 Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic!  This annual conference will take place in Chicago this upcoming December and is the premier professional development conference for band and orchestra directors in North America.  It is regularly attended by 20,000 teachers and the selection process for ensembles is extremely rigorous.  The Lake Braddock Symphony Orchestra will be the only orchestra representing the state of Virginia at this conference and we wish them the best of luck!”

Community Conversations: Share Your Thoughts With Dr. Reid

As a listening leader, connecting with community members across our school division is critical to FCPS Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid. Her Community Conversations are opportunities for you to share your thoughts and ask questions. Events will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on:

Click on a date to register to attend that event. Registration is not required, but helps with planning, especially for child care and interpretation services. Events are open to all. Visit the superintendent’s engagement page for the most up-to-date information.
