Dear Wonderful Navy Families,

I hope you are all finding time to relax and enjoy this fabulous weekend!

I am looking forward to the beautiful Maryland wilderness, glamping with my daughter’s Girl Scout troop. It is a wonderful opportunity to disconnect for a moment and recharge in nature before we jump back into another exciting week.

We’ve had a whirlwind of activity at school recently, filled with hands-on learning and inspiring visitors:

Science in Action: Our 5th graders took their learning on the road with a field trip to Richmond. It was a fantastic day of exploration that brought their science curriculum to life.

The Spirit of Sportsmanship: We were honored to host Hal Hershfelt from the Washington Spirit for a special assembly. Her message on teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship resonated deeply with our students. Thank you PTO for funding this exciting assembly!

Student Voice and Choice: This week, we held our second Student Panel, featuring a dedicated group of 5th and 6th graders. These young leaders are working hard to ensure student perspectives help shape our school culture.

Empowering Young Leaders

During the panel, our students dove into complex organizational concepts that go far beyond the standard classroom fare. They explored:

Feasibility: Understanding what ideas are practical and sustainable.

Dialogue vs. Discussion: Learning how to share perspectives versus how to reach a decision.

Decision-Making Processes: Developing structured ways to turn ideas into action.

Watching them tackle these adult-level concepts with such enthusiasm and maturity is truly inspiring.

Thank you for your continued support and for the privilege of working with your wonderful children every day. They make our school a vibrant place to learn and grow.

Warmly,

Jason, Kim, and Sarah

Our students recently enjoyed a special Sportsmanship Assembly hosted by the PTO, where they learned what it means to be a positive and respectful team player. Through engaging activities and examples, students explored how to show kindness, encouragement, and fairness both on and off the field. Thank you to the PTO for providing this meaningful experience and supporting our students’ growth as teammates and leaders!

Celebrating Our Staff

Celebrating Our Librarian and Creative & Crafty Library

In honor of Librarian Day, we celebrate the incredible impact of our librarian, Mrs. Benavides, and the vibrant space she has created in our creative & crafty library.

Our library serves as a hub for learning, imagination, and exploration. Through thoughtfully selected books, engaging lessons, and creative opportunities, students are encouraged to grow as readers and thinkers.

We are grateful for the care, creativity, and dedication that make our library such a special place for our Navy Dolphins each day. 💙🐬

Their commitment to excellence helps create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where our Navy Dolphins can grow and thrive.

We are grateful for their leadership, care, and the many ways they strengthen our school each day. Please join us in celebrating and thanking them during Principal & Assistant Principal Week. 💙🐬

The Spanish teachers are currently preparing for our upcoming Multicultural Night by organizing student and staff performances that showcase songs and dances in Spanish. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate language, culture, and the talents of our school community.

The event will take place on Friday, May 8, and is organized by our school’s PTO. We are excited to bring everyone together for an evening filled with music, movement, and cultural appreciation, and we look forward to sharing these meaningful performances with our families and community.
