We hope all Lemon Road families are enjoying this beautiful spring break - we look forward to seeing your children again on Tuesday, April 7. Monday, April 6 is a Teacher Work Day. Tuesday also begins the final quarter of the 2025 - 2026 school year!
We are back in field trip season! Our 6th graders just experienced a visit to Philadelphia, PA where they were able to explore the Museum of the American Revolution, Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. Many even had traditional cheese steak lunches. Thank you to all our chaperones for this big trip! Fourth graders heard the National Symphony Orchestra in a very interactive performance the week prior to spring break. This week, our Eco Defense Squad takes a trip to learn more about composting, 3rd graders visit the American History Museum, our 6th graders will soon visit their future middle schools, and 5th graders head to Luray Caverns! Please remember students should wear their LRES polos on all field trips.
Last week, competition was fierce during the annual 5th and 6th grade 3v3 basketball tournament organized by Mr. Hickman & Mr. VT. Pulling off a last minute win, a 5th grade team beat a 6th grade team in the championship game!
Thank you to our family members who joined Kindergarten and Second Grade last week during their class family engagement events during the school day! We also enjoyed seeing many of our students and staff dress up for storybook character day on Friday.
Please note that a new student holiday has been added for April 21 to accommodate the special election as FCPS schools serve as polling sites. Due to that added holiday, the 3 hour early release for April 22 has been canceled. That day will be a full school day for all students and we will dismiss at regular time.
Looking forward to a fantastic spring of learning and fun. We appreciate your partnership!
All families are encouraged to complete this form to let us know your child will or will not return to Lemon Road next year. In addition, the second part of the form allows families the opportunity to provide input into class placement for the 2026 - 2027 school year. A variety of factors such as learning styles, friendships, and academic strengths & needs are considered as we create classes for next year. Families may provide input today through Friday, May 1. This form and timeline is the only method for collecting family input for class placement.
