Hello MUES Families,
This past week has been National Assistant Principal Week. Our school community is so very grateful for the great support Mr. Credle provides to each and every member of our school community. He helps to keep our school safe and fun by taking time everyday to connect with students and staff to ensure they are cared for. He's always the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and enjoys celebrating the success of others. Please join me in thanking Mr. Credle- we are so lucky to him as a trusted member of the MUES Family!
The 4th quarter of school is officially here! If you have not already had the opportunity to view your child's progress report in ParentVUE, please make it a point to do so soon. As always, if you have questions about your child's progress academically and/or behaviorally, please connect with their homeroom teacher to schedule a time to meet.
We have so many exciting activities planned for our Mustangs as we finish off this school year. We have the spring book fair, chorus/strings/band concerts, field day, and 6th grade promotion to look forward to. This is all in addition to spring SOL testing. Please make sure that you stay up to date with school news, grade level news, and news from your child's classroom teacher so that you are informed of any upcoming events impacting your Mustang. Have a nice weekend and enjoy the warm weather, Mustang Family!
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Goddin

Monday, April 13th: Military Branch Pride Day: Wear gear representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, or Space Force.
-
Tuesday, April 14th: Red Day: Wear red to support deployed service members.
-
Wednesday, April 15th: Purple Up Day: Wear purple to represent all branches of the military and support military children.
-
Thursday, April 16th: Boot Camp Day - wear exercise clothing.

About 70% of the FCPS budget comes from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. There are several upcoming opportunities to provide feedback to the county on its budget before final adoption in May. This includes public budget hearings (April 14-16) and an online survey. Learn how the FCPS budget helps us sustain our excellence.

Tuesday, April 21st, is now a teacher workday and staff development day because of a recently announced special election that will impact all FCPS schools.
McNair Upper students will have a traditional full day of instruction and be released at the regular dismissal time on Wednesday, April 29th, which were previously early release Wednesdays for elementary schools.
This adjustment allows our staff to still have dedicated time for planning, collaboration, and professional learning without reducing instructional time on other school days.Read Dr. Reid’s letter to elementary parents for more details.
We are excited to host our McNair Heritage Night, May 14th!
Do you have a food, dance, song, or artifact you'd like to showcase?
The deadline line has been extended to March 25th. Space is limited!
Use this link to sign up today: https://forms.gle/qyCrKMGczWjVrFqH6 and join us in sharing and experiencing diverse cultures.
If you have any questions, email rbarasona@fcps.edu or kfukahori@fcps.edu.
As a listening leader, connecting with community members across our school division is critical to Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid.
