I hope everyone is enjoying Spring Break. For our artistic students who are looking for a project over the break, this bookmark contest may be just the thing to pour your talent and energy into. Don't worry, you will have time to work on submissions if you are away for break. All submissions are due on April 17th. It would be great to have Chesterbrook students represent the winning designs. Good luck!
Reminders for upcoming teacher workdays on April 6, April 10 and newly added April 21st due to a special election. The early release on April 22nd has been canceled.
We look forward to welcoming our newest Chesterbrook Chipmunks on Friday, April 10, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM for Kindergarten Orientation. This special event is designed to provide helpful information for families while creating a fun, welcoming experience for your child, so we encourage you to bring them along! During the orientation, children will have the opportunity to visit a kindergarten classroom with our teachers, participate in specials, and even enjoy a school bus ride with you. It’s a joyful introduction to school that often ends with lots of smiles, and children wanting to come back the very next day! Pass the word onto neighbors, so no one misses out on this special event.
We will wrap up Friday, April 10th with our evening Fun Fair from 4 to 7PM and encourage you to get your tickets and sign up to volunteer for this special event.

Educate Fairfax Student Bookmark Art Contest – “Today’s Reader, Tomorrow’s Leader”
Entries Due April 14th to CES or April 17th directly to Educate Fairfax
Educate Fairfax, the 501(c)3 education foundation that partners with the community to support Fairfax County Public Schools students and educators, is launching a divisionwide Student Bookmark Art Contest during March. FCPS students in grades K–12 are invited to design a 2” x 7” bookmark celebrating the power of learning and creativity under the theme “Today’s Reader, Tomorrow’s Leader.”
Artwork must be original, flat (no glitter or pop-ups), and include the student’s name, grade, and school on the back. Entries will be judged on creativity, connection to the theme, and overall effort. Four winners (K–2, 3–6, middle, and high) will each receive a $25 gift card, and winning designs will be printed and shared in schools and the community. This initiative supports FCPS Goal 3 by promoting literacy and student engagement.
Submissions may be mailed to Educate Fairfax (8270 Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031), emailed to info@educatefairfax.org, or sent via pony mail. Chesterbrook will send in any entries through the Pony that are turned in before April 14th. Please turn entry into Mrs. Remer in the front office and we will send student entries to Educate Fairfax.
By submitting, students confirm FCPS enrollment and grant permission for printing and promotion (first name and grade only; parent/guardian signature required for winners).
