Oakton is fortunate to have two fantastic assistant principals! Thank you Mrs. Holzinger & Mr. Eck for all you do for our students, staff, and families!
Calling all book lovers!
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon and Mrs. Harmon, our fabulous school librarian, will need lots of extra hands during the school day to assist with set up, run the cash registers, help students select books, and pack up at the end of the fair. There are evening opportunities as well as shifts during the school day. No experience necessary! Volunteering at the book fair is a great chance to help directly with students in the school, and accompany your own children as they select books as well. Please take a look at your schedule and SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER HERE.
If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Sereno. If you are only able to be there for a portion of a shift, just note that in your sign up comments and we can split up shifts as necessary.
Important Update: In order to volunteer this year, you MUST have started the volunteer process through the FCPS Volunteer site. You should apply for Level 2. It is acceptable if the process is not complete, but it must be started.
Thanks for your help making this fun event successful for everyone!
Oakton Elementary is proud to celebrate Autism Awareness Week from Tuesday, April 7, through Thursday, April 9. This week reminds us that every student is a valued part of our community and deserves respect and belonging.
Throughout the week, students will participate in morning announcements, classroom talks, and library activities. These lessons focus on:

Thursday, April 9 is Autism Awareness Day. We invite all students and staff to wear blue or a previous year’s Autism Awareness shirt to show their support!

 SPRING PICTURE DAY - APRIL 15, 2026
Order pictures HERE.
- When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can be brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
- If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
- A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
- When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.
All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.
