Admin Avenue
Dear Olde Creek Families,
Welcome back! We hope everyone had a restful and fun spring break. It has been a great short week getting back into the swing of things, and we have loved seeing our students return with energy and smiles.
As we settle back in, our focus is on reestablishing classroom routines. This helps create a calm, consistent environment and reduces unexpected or negative behaviors. A quick reminder from home about expectations can go a long way, especially as the weather gets warmer and students are eager to be outside.
Please continue to keep an eye on our school calendar. The end of the year is approaching quickly, and we have many exciting events coming up!
Looking Ahead – A Busy Week at Olde Creek:
- Book Fair all week
- Woodson Pyramid Art Show (Tuesday)
- Purple Up! Day (Wednesday)
- Career Fair (Friday)
- PTA Sock Hop (Friday evening)
After this long weekend, we will jump into a full and exciting five-day week. Rest up, Bears. Next week is going to be un-bear-ably busy in the best way!
Thank you for your continued support. We are so glad to have everyone back together.
Sincerely,
Courtney Korb Principal

Month of the Military Child and Purple Up Day!
April is the Month of the Military Child, and at Olde Creek, we are proud to celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and spirit of our military-connected students.
Join us on Purple Up Day, April 15th, by wearing purple to show your support and appreciation. Purple Up Day is a special day for communities to come together and wear purple as a visible gesture of support for our military-connected youth and their families. Purple symbolizes the combined colors of all branches of the military. As a Purple Star School, this day is especially meaningful to our community. It is a chance for all of us to stand together and recognize the sacrifices our military families make, especially the children who walk our halls each day. Let’s turn Olde Creek purple and show our students just how much they are seen, valued, and celebrated!
FCPS Military Family Field Day will be held April 18. This fun-filled day celebrates all FCPS military-connected children and families. Military Family Field Day will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m. at Annandale High School’s football stadium (4700 Medford Dr, Annandale, VA 22003).

Elementary Early Release Wednesday
Update for April
Tuesday, April 21, is now a teacher workday and staff development day because of a recently announced special election that will impact all FCPS schools.
Students will have a traditional full day of instruction and be released at the regular dismissal time on April 22, which was previously an early release Wednesday for elementary schools.
This adjustment allows our staff to still have dedicated time for planning, collaboration, and professional learning without reducing instructional time on other school days. Read Dr. Reid’s letter to elementary parents for more details.
Lost Items?
Please come by and check out the Lost and Found for any items your student may be missing. We have many jackets and winter items that want to return home! All lost and found items will be donated on April 24th.
Thank you!

Sock Hop Next Friday!
|
Join us next Friday (April 17th) from 5:30-7:30 for this year's Sock Hop! Live DJ and Special Dances! Prizes galore for craziest socks, animal socks, traditional sock hop attire, and more!
We need volunteers to make this fun event happen! Sign up here to volunteer!
We are also looking for someone to be the bear at the Sock Hop. We've had a lovely volunteer cover last year's Sock Hop, Laps, and the Halloween Howl, but she's not available for this event. The kids do love seeing the bear, so please consider volunteering. You do not have to spend the entire event in costume. About 30-45 minutes to bounce around the dance floor and pick winners for the sock and costume contest is what we need. Email kkidwell55@gmail.com if you can be the bear.
Food and drink will be available from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria with pre-paid tickets. Dancing begins in the gym at 6:00 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets, food, and drink.
Please order pizza in advance as we cannot guarantee enough pizza if you do not order by April 15th.
Cake Raffle details: Raffle will be held at 7:00 and the winning ticket will be placed on top of each cake, which will then be ready for pick up at the end of the event. If you don't claim your cake, it may be given away to hungry clean up volunteers, so please get your cake.
Prizes will be awarded for:
- Most Creative Socks
- Most Colorful Socks
- Wackiest Theme Socks
- Best Traditional Sock Hop Attire
All children must be accompanied by an adult. For current OCES students and siblings only.
